Hello, my name is Xenia and I am passionate about helping you be the best version of yourself. Making the first step towards therapy takes courage and I am proud of you for getting started! Life has it’s challenges and I have certainly had my own over the years. Sometimes we just need support from someone that isn’t family or a close friend; Someone who we can trust that they will hold space for us in order to process certain events, or, a confidential objective party that will listen, without judgement, so we can make sense of ourselves and the world around us.

Sometimes, people contact me because another form of therapy hasn't worked for them, sometimes they're curious about the possibilities of hypnotherapy, and sometimes they just want to feel heard, perhaps for the first time.
Seeking support can be one of the hardest yet bravest things you can do. I'm Jenny and my role is to make the process as easy as possible for you, by offering a warm and supportive environment from which you can explore the challenges that you are facing, the symptoms that you are struggling with, and the causes of these issues. Anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, depression, habits or fears do not define you; they can be temporary problems that you can learn to solve, with the right support in place. My individualised and collaborative approach to therapy allows you to find a way forward as quickly as possible.

I work from a person-centred foundation and draw from a range of therapeutic approaches such as: hypnotherapy, Gestalt, parts work, transactional analysis, existential, attachment-based and solution-focused.
I offer a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever has brought you to therapy and feel genuinely understood. You may be struggling with anxiety, overthinking, low self-esteem or people-pleasing. Perhaps you've been feeling depressed or carrying a sense that something isn't quite right, even though life looks fine from the outside. Maybe you're navigating a difficult relationship, a significant life change or feeling stuck. You might want to better understand your emotions, make sense of your experiences and find a way forward that feels more balanced and meaningful.

You might feel weighed down by shame, guilt, or the sense that you’re never enough. Perhaps this shows up as anxiety, overthinking, exhaustion, or repeating painful relationship patterns. You may notice yourself stuck in cycles of burnout, intrusive thoughts, or emotional numbness, wondering why you can’t just “move on.” Deep down you may long for relief, self-trust, and the freedom to live more fully, but trying to explore this alone possibly feels overwhelming. Ideally, you'd want a space where you don’t have to carry it all by yourself.

A friendly, experienced counsellor. My clients range from people with specific issues like grief and relationship breakdown to people who just don't feel right. Mental health can affect every part of our lives. It is therefore important to get help as soon as possible. I guess you're wondering who I can help? Perhaps one of the following descriptions and scenarios fits you: your anxiety and stress levels are so high, you feel like exploding; your self esteem and confidence are so low they're dragging on the ground; you seem always to form the same rotten relationships, or the relationships you have with friends and family feel more like 'Apocalypse Now' than 'Happy days'. Or, perhaps, you have experienced a bereavement and you're struggling to adapt to the new life thrust upon you. If any of these desriptions or scenarios fit you, then I can offer you the support you need to make positive changes.

With 25 years of experience in counselling & psychotherapy I aim to help couples & individuals understand emotions and how to get more from their relationships. Some want to renew a long gone passion and others are just fighting to stay together - the answer is often found by looking at new ways to communicate with each other rather than fixing a disagreement. There will be reasons for your behaviour that make sense and I will help you to uncover these throughout our sessions together. You may have an ‘arguing style’ and by looking more deeply, at your inner hurt and anger, we will be able to discover what is really going on.

Waking up exhausted even after sleeping? You're constantly anxious, grieving someone or something you've lost or just falling apart ? You tell yourself to "be strong" or "get over it". But the sadness lingers. The anxiety keeps your mind racing. You don't have to navigate in grief, anxiety, depression and family challenges alone. As a therapist I provide a safe, compassionate, non judgemental space where you can explore your feelings and develop practical tools to move forward. Healing doesn't mean forgetting or pretending everything is okay. It means learning how to carry life s challenges with greater strength, clarity and hope.

Hypnotherapy Counsellors
How does hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy works by using guided hypnosis to help you reach a state of focus and concentration through mental imagery and soothing verbal repetition. The state is somewhat like being absorbed in a book, a film, or your own thoughts. You are not under a therapist’s “control,” but they can help you relax and turn your attention inward to discover the resources to achieve behaviour change or better manage psychological concerns. Therapy sessions may involve guiding you through recognising a problem, releasing problematic thoughts about it, and considering and accepting more productive alternatives before returning to normal awareness. Hypnotherapy is typically used by a therapist along with traditional forms of talk therapy. Eventually, your therapist can help you learn hypnotherapy techniques yourself, so you can establish a stronger sense of control on your own in stressful or challenging moments.

Is hypnotherapy the same as hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy, which is sometimes called hypnotic suggestion, is a therapeutic technique in which a therapist uses hypnosis to help patients. It is not the kind of hypnosis portrayed in stage shows, or in movies or on television. You will not be unconscious or asleep during hypnotherapy, you will not lose control of yourself, your thoughts, or your free will, and you will be able to fully recall your experience. And while you will hear your therapist’s suggestions, it is always up to you to decide whether to act on them. Hypnosis by a trained mental-health professional is not a form of mind control, which is impossible to achieve anyway.

Can everyone be hypnotised?
The most common challenge of hypnotherapy is that as many as one in four people cannot be hypnotised. Brain imaging has confirmed differences in patterns of brain connectivity between those who respond to hypnotism and those who do not. Other people who could potentially be hypnotised may not respond to the technique because of their scepticism or resistance to entering a hypnotic state. If a therapist’s “post-hypnotic suggestion” is effective, it’s because they are suggesting something you want to achieve.

Does hypnotherapy work?
Through hypnotherapy, you can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. Like other talk therapy techniques, when hypnotherapy succeeds, it’s a case of mind over matter. Effective hypnotherapy involves self-healing because you access resources you need to change inside of yourself and learn how to tap into them whenever you need. Hypnotherapy has been shown to be an effective therapy for anxiety, phobias, stress, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual dysfunction, and undesirable behaviours like smoking. It can be used to help improve sleep or to address relationship challenges, and to aid with pain management, digestive disorders, skin conditions, and the gastrointestinal side effects of pregnancy or chemotherapy.
