Hello, my name is Emma. I want to acknowledge this important step and any apprehension you may have in this moment. Whether you have had counselling before, or this is your first time looking for support, this is a positive step towards getting the relief you are looking for.  I can offer you an often much-needed, ‘sounding board’ and a safe place that is without expectation or judgment. It will be your space to explore and begin to take the steps to feel more yourself.

Are you wanting your voice to be truly heard? Do you need someone to really listen to how you are feeling, and not be told how you should or should not feel? Or perhaps you would like someone to give you time and space to just be who you need to be, during what might be a difficult time for you right now. I understand how challenging it can be to share your thoughts and feelings with a complete stranger, to share something that you may feel you are going to be judged on, or perhaps no-one will understand. Together we can explore your concerns in a safe environment where you take the lead and make changes for your future.

My integrative framework to working with my clients allows for a sensitive, gentle approach tailored to each client and their individual needs. Offering an environment which allows the client to truly be themselves, in a non judgmental, safe haven whereby they feel held and accepted. Therefore, allowing them to start their journey into counselling and the self discovery which accompanies it “one step at a time” and at a manageable pace.

I am a qualified therapeutic counsellor supporting people who are anxious or grieving, frightened, lonely, struggling with sadness or in distress. I offer a warm and genuine welcome, an open heart and mind and time & space to be with you, to be alongside you for as much time as you need. After working as a paramedic for over 10 years I decided I wanted to retrain as a counsellor. I have continued to work for the NHS and find that people can be surprisingly resilient with the right emotional support.

I am a warm hearted, open-minded individual who understands how difficult taking the first steps into counselling can sometimes be. Many people have 'life events' that bring them to counselling such as relationship breakdown, bereavement, or redundancy. Often feelings that accompany these life events can lead to depression and anxiety. Or it may be that suppressed or undesired feelings keep recurring, leading to painful repeating patterns of behavior or outcomes in your life. My role in your therapeutic journey is to facilitate your awareness, to gently challenge perspective where appropriate and to walk alongside you at your pace.

Occasionally it helps to review and reflect on life's pathway. It can be hard to do this by ourselves, our friends and family may feel too close to confide in. It can be helpful to explore our feelings and emotions in a safe, non-judgmental environment, I can provide this in a relaxing, quiet therapeutic space in Devizes. I have 15 years’ counselling experience with a deep interest in working with; bereavement and loss; with military families and veterans experiencing PTSD; with young people with additional needs such as autism, ADHD and ADD. I work in an integrated style with a special interest in Compassion Focused Therapy.

There are times in your life when things change unexpectedly, and feelings of anxiety can increase and might not seem to make sense. Are you always putting others' needs first, comparing yourself to others? Holding back what you want to say afraid of what others may think. Finding yourself overwhelmed by a sense of sadness or depression you just can't shake. It may seem embarrassing or painful to talk about what’s been happening. You may worry you won’t be understood by family and friends? As a person-centred counsellor, I will treat you as the expert on yourself, as no one else knows exactly what it’s like to be you.

After fostering for some 11 years, I subsequently began training and provided counselling within my local mainstream College, in addition to a Special Educational Needs School, working alongside Young people with Complex needs such as Asperger’s Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD) and Autism. I am privileged to have gained a great insight into the challenging issues that affect the lives of families today, either from the young person’s perspective or parent/carer. I have grown confident supporting both Adults and Young People navigate the difficulties that too often we face alone.

I am an experienced and qualified counsellor working full time in my profession. It is very important to feel comfortable working with a counsellor with whom you have a relationship built upon trust, openness and honesty, where you feel at ease and accepted without judgement. I offer an initial free telephone consultation where we can discuss any queries you may have around counselling. This is important so we can identify together how therapy can be useful to you. I explain how I work and what you can expect from me. I work regularly with clients with a variety of issues including anxiety, low mood, family concerns & bereavement

If you are reading this you may be wishing for something in your life, family or relationship to be different. I too was looking for difference when I first began my Systemic Psychotherapy training. My name is Marianne Le Coyte Grinney and I am a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist: I believe 'the person is never the problem' and that people are best understood within systems, for example their family, work and social life. My therapeutic posture aims not to apportion blame, but to support individual and collective change within a safe and supportive environment. I do not hope to provide answers, but to facilitate change through

You may be looking for a therapist to address a specific issue, perhaps an experience from the past that is impacting you now, or there may be a general feeling that something is not quite right. Many people find talking with someone, in confidence, helps them discover who they are and helps them make informed, self-loving and kinder choices. Therapy can help you discover the real you, creating awareness, acknowledging and dealing with repressed feelings and getting in touch with your innate self-worth. Which, in turn, promotes personal autonomy and the resilience to deal with life's challenges.

I have over 20 years experience. I am aware how important it is to find someone you can share with and work towards a better future. I offer you short/medium or longer term (up to one year) to raise your self awareness and understanding about your situation and work in a non judgemental way towards finding a better way forward or coming to terms with something that may have happened. We all have traumas in our lives and this can leave us feeling really dysregulated, anxious and struggling to cope. I offer you a tailored approach to counselling and draw on my experience and training to offer you a safe setting to explore YOU.

I work predominantly with clients with complex PTSD, PTSd or PTS and/or neuro-diversity/ADHD/Childhood-Adolescent Developmental Trauma/Military Service or life in general. We can feel psychologically and emotionally dysregulated, unable to control our emotional response / triggers, leaving us feeling angry/anxious/depressed/overwhelmed or shutdown. By helping you to regulate your nervous system, chronic stress activation can be reduced, allowing the mind and the body to think and perceive situations and events differently, which helps us to feel safe and secure. Less reactivity, leads to improved mental health.

What type of mental health professional is right for me?
Some of the most common types of mental health providers in Wiltshire are psychologists, licensed counsellors, therapists, and psychotherapists, all of whom diagnose mental health conditions and provide individualised treatment.

Services offered, education, and credentials vary by type of mental health professional. Each professional in Wiltshire then may specialise in certain areas, such as depression, marriage counselling, or anxiety. Although many mental health providers are not licensed to prescribe medication, they may coordinate with a provider who can.

Both in-person and online therapy sessions are available from most psychologists.
How to find a specialist?
You can refine your search using the filters on this page. There are several categories you can filter by to find mental health professionals with the experience you are looking for. You may want to filter for CBT Psychologists in Wiltshire, or Child Psychologists in Wiltshire.

Many find it useful to use filters to view only psychologists that have experience working with certain issues, like Wiltshire psychologists specialising in EMDR.

What method of therapy is right for me?
When it comes to treatment methods, there's no 'right way.’ Each method of therapy can be beneficial for a variety of issues. Psychologists in Wiltshire specialise in therapeutic approaches such as CBT, EMDR, and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), among others. Finding a psychologist or counsellor who is a good fit for you is the most important step to discovering what type of therapy, or combination of therapeutic approaches, will meet your individual needs. Learn what to expect from different types of therapy and how they work.

Can I afford counselling?
Yes. Most counsellors offer reasonable rates or will work on a sliding scale basis. Many accept health insurance. Feel free to discuss this when you contact the counsellor.
