Clients who I work with are adults feeling lost, navigating life transitions, or seeking healing from past pain, including those experiencing identity loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, or domestic abuse. Reach out when old coping mechanisms stop working or emotional pain affects daily life, seeking relief, clarity, and non-judgmental support. Using a tailored integrative approach. Combining modalities like person-centered, CBT, DBT, somatic, and psychodynamic therapy I help them move forward by connecting mind, body, and emotions. Together, we develop practical tools, process past hurt, build resilience, and restore a true self.

I am an integrative counsellor and creative arts therapist offering face to face, online and walking and talking sessions with adults and children. I use a person-centred approach meaning you have the autonomy to bring whatever you want and work through it in the way you want to. Choose from traditional talking therapy or if words are difficult to find opt for a more relaxed way of thinking and processing through creative expression such as drawing- this is often more preferable and accessible for children. Whatever you choose we will work together to ensure your goals are met.

Distress in life can bring about: confusion, pain, self-blame, anger, self-blame, isolation, loneliness, negative coping mechanism and many other symptoms. It is important to know that anyone of us can experience mental distress and there are several reasons why this may happen, including: trauma, difficult life events, early life experiences and biological basis. My job is to people make sense of their concerns, and find balance during these difficult times so that they can get to their optimum level of functioning again.

Life can become too much sometimes. Maybe you’ve tried to carry on as normal, pushing things down or telling yourself “others have it worse.” But the truth is, if something is hurting you, it matters. I work with people who want to understand themselves better, especially how their early life or relationships have shaped how they show up in the world today. Perhaps you’ve reached a point where you’re asking, “Why do I feel like this?” or “Why does it keep happening?”—and you’re ready to find out.

I specialise in working with children & their families, particularly young children. Parents contact me because they are concerned about their child's behaviour or development, sometimes they can see that their child is worried, cross or seems sad. Often parents have questions about how best to respond to their child in different situations, or want to learn more about different parenting approaches. Parents also worry about relationships within the family; whether they feel as close to their child as they thought they would, or whether difficult times have put a strain on relationships. These are all good reasons to get in touch.

At times, people can feel overwhelmed by events or relationships in their lives. You may feel anxious, confused, depressed, frustrated and alone. You may be troubled by something you don’t understand, or something in your life isn’t working out as you want and you can’t seem to see the 'wood for the trees'. Trying to understand such events and feelings or make lasting positive changes can seem too difficult on your own, and this is where counselling/psychotherapy, EMDR or life coaching or a blend of these therapies can help.

How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
