You may be finding life difficult at the moment and feeling anxious or sad. Struggling to focus and worrying about falling behind, you're working hard but, feel like you're getting nowhere. Great at sorting out other people's dramas, you're the first one friends and family turn to in a crisis, but you never seem to find the time or the energy to focus on you. You may notice familiar patterns repeating, sabotaging your work, studies and personal relationships and preventing you from reaching your goals. Painful past experiences are encroaching on the present, and you're wondering if therapy might help you get back on track.

I work integratively, with my roots in person centred counselling, drawing on psychodynamic and CBT informed approaches where helpful.
You might be the person everyone relies on, the one who gets on with things, while privately wondering how much longer you can keep doing that. Maybe something has happened that has changed life as you knew it. Maybe there isn't one particular thing you can point to, but you feel anxious, overwhelmed, low, or simply tired of holding it all together. You might know exactly what you're struggling with, or you might just know that something doesn't feel right. Whatever has brought you here, you don't need to know exactly what you need from counselling before we begin.

My approach is an integration of predominantly Psychodynamic and Systemic theories, I also however have training in other areas to give me as many tools as possible to help you.
I am an experienced integrative Psychotherapist working face to face and online. I have experience helping couples and individuals with Relationship support, whether that is support following an affair, help with communication or arguments or wider family situations. I also support individuals with issues like anxiety and self esteem. You may find it difficult to understand just what your problems are – you just know you feel awful and your life is not happy. Talking to a professionally trained & experienced counsellor or therapist really does allow you to explore these difficult areas and, together, draw up a workable action plan.

There are many reasons people decide to start therapy. They're feeling lost, their purpose in life has just left for university, redundancy and unemployment has left a sense of uncertainty. Grief rears it's head when least expected, close friends become acquaintances, hobbies no longer interest them. They feel unappreciated, worthless. Not good enough. These are all reasons my clients have walked through my door. And in fairness, the same can be said for myself. Life knocks us when we least expect it, talking about it can help.

If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship challenges, you’re not alone. Past experiences - especially those tied to attachment - can shape how we feel, think, and connect with others. You may be searching for ways to heal from trauma, manage symptoms of complex PTSD, or navigate the difficulties of personality or eating disorders. More than anything, you want to feel safe, understood, and empowered to build a more fulfilling life.

I practice integratively, combining Person-Centred safety with Psychodynamic, Attachment, Systemic and CBT frameworks.
I believe everyone deserves the chance to explore their true potential, to work towards their aspirations, and to live a happy life, as free from pain and hurt as possible. We're all unique, with very different ways of experiencing the world, and with even more unique minds and internal worlds. This means we respond to things in totally different ways to how even the closest people to us do. My approach offers a confidential space where there's no judgment, somewhere to say the things you're not able to with others, and a place to gain a deeper insight into why you feel the way you do, and how to manage it.

Every person has a unique story shaped by their relationships, culture, and life experiences. Therapy offers a space to explore that story with curiosity, compassion, and understanding. I believe that many of the difficulties we encounter stem from patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating that often operate outside of our awareness. Together, we first identify and understand these patterns and how they may be contributing to current challenges. Through greater insight, we can then work toward developing new ways of coping, relating, and responding, helping you move toward the changes and goals that matter most to you.

I use an integrative approach, drawing on many therapy technique's such as CBT, person-centred, psychodynamic, Somatic and Attachment theory.
Do you ever find yourself wondering why you react the way you do, struggle to trust, overthink relationships, or feel like you’re constantly trying to understand yourself? Maybe you’ve experienced difficult relationships, trauma, rejection, or times where your needs didn’t feel understood. Maybe you’ve learned to people-please, mask, over-function, avoid conflict, or put everyone else first. For many people, these patterns make sense when we explore your attachment style, past experiences and the ways you’ve learned to protect yourself.

Psychodynamic Counsellors
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
