My own experience of therapy inspired me to become a psychotherapist. Through therapy, I gained a deeper understanding of how early experiences can shape our relationships, emotions and sense of self. This journey helped me move beyond patterns that had left me feeling stuck and develop a more fulfilling way of living. As a therapist, I offer a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can explore your difficulties, gain insight and work towards meaningful and lasting change. If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck or struggling to move forward, I invite you to get in touch.

Sometimes life gets hard in ways that are difficult to explain. You may find yourself awake at night with your mind racing, replaying what has happened, worrying about what might happen next, or wondering why you cannot seem to cope in the way you used to. Perhaps you feel anxious but cannot switch your mind off. You may feel low, exhausted, disconnected, or as though you are carrying a weight that nobody else can see or understands. You may be grieving a loss, struggling after the breakdown of a relationship, or trying to make sense of experiences that have left you feeling hurt, unsafe, unheard, or overwhelmed. I am here to help.

Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or exhausted from trying to cope with difficulties they don’t fully understand. Some are exploring whether they may be autistic and are seeking a thoughtful adult autism assessment to better understand themselves. Others are struggling with the impact of past experiences or trauma and want support to process these using approaches such as EMDR. Many have spent years masking or managing alone and are looking for a supportive space to gain clarity, reduce distress, and move forward with greater self-understanding and compassion.

You’ve always been the capable one. High functioning, self aware, often the one others turn to for advice. But lately everything feels heavy. You’re burnt out, emotionally overloaded, and wondering who you are underneath all the coping. I work with women who look like they’re managing on the outside but feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck on the inside. This often shows up in motherhood, after difficult experiences like birth trauma, or during big life transitions. You might be tired of overthinking, holding everything together, and feeling like you’ve lost a sense of yourself.

Women's Issues Counsellors
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realised.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
