I am a BACP-accredited counsellor, supervisor and counselling tutor, deeply passionate about helping people. Through my own personal life experience and mental health challenges, counselling and psychotherapy has given a life perspective I would have never imagined before. I truly believe we each have our own answers, sometimes buried deep within us. Therapy is a process to unearth them - perhaps when they are needed most.

Are you struggling with Anxiety or Depression? Perhaps you are being bullied or have been bereaved. Are you experiencing relationship problems? You may be in the military or emergency services, or adjusting to life after leaving. You might feel detached, irritable, or find relationships difficult. Perhaps you’re struggling to make sense of things that others don’t see or understand. You want space to talk without judgement, to understand yourself better, and to feel more in control. I offer confidential, weekly sessions—either online or in person—where we can explore what’s going on beneath the surface, at your pace.

If you have got this far you probably have an inkling that to talk about what is troubling you might help. Why not give it a try? Perhaps you are wondering how it works. The short answer is we work together to make connections between your past experience and your present life. It is as we become more aware of these connections that change can flourish. Why not take a step of faith and see where "talking about it" gets you?

People who come to see me often carry the weight of secrets, unresolved stress, and strained relationships, leading to an internal world that feels unmanageable. Without someone they feel secure enough to confide in, these challenges can feel overwhelming, affecting their ability to live more fulfilling lives. For many, experiences like loss, neglect, or difficult childhoods contribute to anxiety, depression, and feelings of disconnection, issues with sex and sexuality and inability to make life changes. Having a space to talk openly and in confidence can bring relief, making what once felt unmanageable more manageable.

If you have suffered trauma in your earlier life, or are having difficulty coping with day to day life, due to feelings of depression and or anxiety and want to explore what is underneath these problems and what may have contributed in the past to keeping them going and are keen to better understand the hidden parts of yourself then I feel I could be of help to you. If you feel that the very earliest relationships in your life, going right back to being an infant have been damaged in some way and have created barriers for you in forming new relationships, then I think we will have space and time to work together on these.

I’m a Psychologist, Integrative Psychotherapist, keynote speaker and Author with over 20 years experience working in mental health across the NHS, private practice, and organisational settings. In my private practice I work with adults 1:1 and with couples, supporting people to navigate life’s challenges and facilitate change. There are many reasons to come to therapy. You’ve worked hard to build a successful life, career, relationships, responsibilities, but something feels off. You’re stressed, disconnected, or stuck, even though others think you’ve got it all together. Systemic psychotherapy helps you understand how your relationships, past and present, shape how you feel, act, and relate. Whether you come alone, or with a partner, therapy offers space to reconnect with what matters most. Let’s work together to rediscover balance, purpose, and fulfilment.

I provide individual and couple counselling on intimate, family and work relationships. Anxiety, low mood and addiction almost always have a relational dimension. For more information, please visit my website. I trained with Relate and have an MA with Distinction in Relationship Therapy. Before training as a therapist I worked in change management in international corporations. I know the stresses of the workplace. My approach is tailored individually to each person I work with. I have no rules about the number of sessions we spend together. Sometimes only a few can be transformational.

The terminology of therapy is often confusing, but the way I work means that: although whatever has brought you to therapy is manifesting itself in your day to day life, behaviours, thoughts and feelings, I believe that it's roots could be in your past, possibly as far back as early childhood. Perhaps you are feeling anxious, or are experiencing low mood. Maybe you have experienced a trauma, or are dealing with a lot of stress. You might have suffered a loss, or simply feel that something isn't quite right, and that you need some help and support.

Hello, I’m Matt and welcome to my profile. We all need help sometimes and reaching out is often the hardest step and yet “looking” for a counsellor can feel just as hard. There are countless reasons why people begin their counselling journey: perhaps you’ve been advised to, or you may have a specific issue or issues that you feel need addressing. Oftentimes it is the circumstances we find ourselves in that may be causing us issues or maybe, or maybe, life is just a little bit too hard at the moment.

Hi, I'm Luke and I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist. Reaching out for support can sometimes require a lot of courage as society often teaches us that we should be able to deal with our own problems. The reality is that we, as humans, thrive when we are able to give care and support to others as well as receive this for ourselves. It is my belief that therapy shouldn't just be just for those who are at crisis point or struggling deeply with their mental wellbeing. Therapy is for anyone who needs a safe space to talk through any experiences in their lives and find ways to live alongside the pain and anxiety that this can create.

Male Counsellors

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
