I am a counsellor and registered general nurse specialising in occupational health, and my priorities have been about the physical and psychological care of my patients and clients. I use the biopsychosocial model to support clients' biological, psychological and social experiences and issues. I listen to why the client feels they need therapy, and we discuss the most appropriate way forward which may include, for example, CBT or solution-focussed therapy. I am welcoming and trustworthy and my approach to clients is irrespective of gender, sexual orientation, race or religious beliefs.

Are you a woman who feels held back, tired of hitting the same internal walls no matter how hard you try? You want something different, but you’re exhausted, overthinking everything, and waiting to feel ready. Feeling stuck doesn’t mean you’re not capable. It means you’re running patterns you can’t yet see. My AuDHD brain gives me fast pattern recognition - I spot the loops and blind‑spots, and the subtle ways you keep yourself small, often before you’ve finished describing them. We don’t go round in circles just for more insight, we go straight to the root so you can stop hiding, start trusting yourself, and move forward.

Sex and Relationship therapy is talking therapy specialized in addressing concerns around intimacy, sexuality and relationships. Sexual and relational wellbeing is for many a key factor for good mental health and relationship satisfaction. Yet it can feel very complex to navigate and often isolating. It’s very common to stumble upon challenges within the course of your relationship and sometimes a bit of professional help is what your relationship needs to thrive. Whether you are seeking support as an individual or as a couple, I tailor my therapeutic approach to your unique needs.

You may look like you are coping on the outside, but inside, feel exhausted, anxious, overwhelmed, or unlike yourself. Many women I support are navigating menopause, perinatal mental health difficulties, pregnancy and infant loss, grief, or emotional burnout whilst continuing to care for everyone around them. Sleepless nights, “what if” worries, guilt, and self-criticism can feel relentless. Often, clients come to counselling wanting a calm space to breathe, feel understood, and reconnect with themselves again.

Whether you’re dealing with anger, anxiety, bereavement, depression, estrangement, family issues, identity, loneliness, menopause, mortality, powerlessness, relationships, or simply want to talk things through, I offer a confidential, non-judgmental space to explore what you’re feeling, and how you can manage it. We’re all different and we all need to find our own way. I can help you do that. The world throws a lot at us, and expects a lot of us. And, very often, we expect a lot of ourselves too. For many of us, it can help to talk through what we’re dealing with, to help us understand what’s going on and find a way forward.

Women's Issues Counsellors
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realised.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
