I have particular experience working with abuse, trauma, personality disorders and also with clients impacted by neurodiversity.
Firstly, thank you for stopping to read my profile. Life can be unpredictable and sometimes it may feel a little overwhelming, at other times it can lack variety and we can feel like we are stuck in a rut. I offer a non-judgemental space for you to explore what is happening in your life and find solutions that will work for you. Some clients will want the opportunity to express emotions and be heard, allowing them to find acceptance and their own way forward. Others might be looking for a therapy which offers more direction such as life coaching.

Your rational mind tells you that you’re safe, but your body says the opposite. You might notice this by feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and unable to relax. You may find yourself avoiding difficult conversations, or struggling to say no. The ways you’ve learned to cope: people-pleasing, overthinking, keeping control, isolating, avoiding - developed for good reasons. They helped you survive. But eventually those strategies become unbearable. Therapy with me helps you feel safe enough to stop holding back: to disagree, to express anger healthily, to stop being the “good” one, or to risk not being liked.

A few of the most common difficulties are: depression, low self esteem, relationship issues, trauma, stress, anxiety, grief, loss or bereavement, abuse, problems with addiction, co-dependency, eating disorders, victims of DV.
My name is Maiia, and I'm a psychotherapist offering private therapy sessions online, over the phone or in person (you choose!). Life can be challenging. Sometimes it feels unfair, unjust even. You might feel lonely, misunderstood or judged. I want you to know that reaching out takes real courage, and you've already taken the first step by being here. I won't promise you a magic pill that takes away your worries overnight. But here's what I can promise: I'll do my best to understand what it's like to be you. I'll stand by you. I'll be your best ally as we work through whatever you're facing right now.

I work with adults and young people who often appear to be coping on the outside but feel overwhelmed, stuck, or not good enough on the inside. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable individuals who find themselves caught in patterns of overthinking, procrastination, emotional shutdown, or self-doubt. They are often drawn to therapy because something no longer feels sustainable—whether that’s anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, or a sense of disconnection from themselves. For many, these struggles are rooted in earlier experiences such as childhood neglect, unmet emotional needs, or trauma.

You might be holding things together on the surface — managing work, relationships, and responsibilities — while underneath feeling anxious, stuck, or under constant pressure to cope. You may notice patterns you can’t quite shift. Overthinking conversations long after they’ve happened. Being hard on yourself in ways others don’t see. Or finding the same difficulties showing up in relationships, even when you try to do things differently. Something about it doesn’t fully make sense — but it keeps happening.

Hello and welcome to my profile page. I am a UKCP-registered clinical psychotherapist offering short and long-term therapy in Surrey and London. Domestic Abuse Counsellors
What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?
Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognise that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?
Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?
Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?
It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
