I provide counselling for anxiety, relationships, perfectionism, grief, lack of joy, persistent worry and low mood, low self-esteem, communication issues, people pleasing, life coaching, and parenting issues.
My counselling practice is centred on the belief that difficulties can send us ‘off-track’ but we all have the capacity to find our way back, we might just need a little help. I work with what you bring, using the counselling approach that meets your individual needs, rather than fitting your needs into a predecided approach. For example you may need some immediate help with tools to manage your current symptoms, and then later want to look deeper into discovering the cause of those symptoms. Whatever you bring I will offer you the care, empathy and understanding without judgement.

The client-therapist relationship is vital, as we need to trust each other in order to work together effectively (getting the right therapist for you is more important than gaining a client for me).
I specialise in ANXIETY, LOW MOOD, RELATIONSHIPS, ANGER MANAGEMENT, COMMUNICATION ISSUES, STRESS, LOSS OF DIRECTION and BEREAVEMENT, and I work in other wider therapy areas, as most clients each have their own personal mixture of issues.

You may be feeling stuck in patterns of anxiety, overwhelm, or low mood, or noticing how past experiences continue to affect your relationships, emotions or sense of safety.
Many of the people I work with have experienced childhood trauma, attachment wounds or long periods of stress and may find themselves caught in cycles of anxiety, overwhelm or disconnection. You might notice yourself moving between fight, flight, freeze or shutdown responses, even when you’re trying your best to change things.

Through therapy, clients develop a steadier sense of worth — no longer dependent on achievement — and a deeper experience of belonging rooted in a more stable relationship with themselves.
I frequently work with people who appear to be coping well on the surface — managing responsibilities, meeting expectations, and often being the reliable one for others. Internally, however, they may feel disconnected, depleted, and quietly exhausted. I specialise in working with burnout and the longer-term impact of chronic over-adaptation — the tension between who you are and who you feel you must be.

The same arguments with your partner over the same stuff.
Couple therapy brings two people together with different views on what is the problem here . The work is a challenge to you. I use the Gottman method which is evidence based and gives a roadmap for the work. You both complete a comprehensive assessment before the first session, which includes individual time ,then couple time to conclude.

Couples Counselling Counsellors
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
