Hi, I'm Tracey and I am a psychotherapist (MA)  and counsellor (dip).   I work with both adults and children.  I work online, and by telephone or in person at a private practice in Bratton, Wiltshire.  I am experienced working with trauma, anxiety, stress, depression and common relationship problems. I also have ten years experience of working with clients who have diagnosed or suspected neurodiversity, helping them to come to terms with 'difference' and it's affects, both societally, personally and emotionally.

Hi! Thanks for taking a look at my page! Life can feel overwhelming, confusing, or hard to navigate alone. You might be holding things together on the outside while feeling lost, exhausted, or unsure inside. I offer a steady, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you don’t have to have the right words or explain everything. I work flexibly, tailoring therapy to the person in front of me rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. My experience includes specialist work with eating disorders, gender identity, and neurodiversity, as well as supporting people when life feels complicated, overwhelming, or unclear.

Do you feel overwhelmed, burnt out, or stuck in patterns you can’t shift? I support trauma-affected and neurodivergent adults and teens (Autism, ADHD, OCD, high sensitivity) who feel anxious, disconnected, or pushed beyond their capacity. Many people come to me after talking therapy hasn’t helped enough. Together, we work gently with both mind and body so you can feel calmer, safer, and more grounded in yourself again. Nothing you bring is too much.

Life can sometimes be difficult. There may be times when we find ourselves experiencing stress, anxiety, panic, or struggling with extremely low moods or bouts of depression. Maybe you find yourself struggling with life's difficulties, often feeling isolated and alone, believing that there isn't anyone you can turn to, including work colleagues, friends or family. Maybe past experience has taught you not to trust anyone with your feelings. Or maybe you find yourself believing that no one truly understands what you are going through.

Are you battling an eating disorder or caught in a cycle of never feeling good enough? Are you constantly self-doubting or procastinating? Is anxiety holding you back from the life you want to live? Maybe you’re overwhelmed, burnt out, or stuck in perfectionism — driven by impossible standards and harsh self-criticism. Perhaps your relationships are suffering, and you don’t know why. You don’t have to face this alone. I created "Tutum Psychology" from the Latin word 'tutum', meaning 'safe'—to offer exactly that: a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore, heal, and grow. Let’s work together to create that space for you.

I am a psychoanalyst in training and an accredited counsellor. I offer a safe space in which you can speak and be listened to without judgement or expectation. I encourage you to speak about whatever comes to mind and to follow your thoughts wherever they lead. You may have a diagnosis or have your own words for how you are suffering - that's often the place to start. What we may find is that issues of identity and relationships follow - how you see yourself in relation to those around you now or in the past and possibly how you would like relationships to change in the future.

I mostly work with clients who have been adversely affected by abuse, trauma, and relationship difficulties. I have extended this to work with couples and relationships. I work by tuning into each client’s individual circumstances and listen to how their life experiences have impacted them. I can offer some solutions, such as coping mechanisms for managing trauma responses such as anxiety and depression. I also offer help in developing practical skills in managing narcissistic behaviour, such as carefully considered boundary setting, recognising that boundaries often come with negative consequences.

Suicidal Ideation Counsellors
How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioural therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
