Hello, my name is Michelle, I am a qualified and registered integrative therapist. As an Integrative Psychotherapist I use a variety of different approaches, drawing on whatever seems most helpful to you. This allows me to adapt my way of working to each client’s individual needs. I very much view therapy as a collaborative process, where both therapist and client contribute, and the main focus is on building a supportive and trusting relationship. As an integrative therapist I am trained in three main therapeutic frames, the Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

I am here to support clients who are experiencing challenging emotions and situations, such as anxiety disorders, depression, bereavement, or feeling trapped in repetitive relationship patterns. Our attachment styles are formed from a young age, and as we grow older, we may find ourselves stuck in these same patterns. I have helped clients confront their attachment fears that affect their personal relationships. Additionally, I have worked with individuals who struggle with self-harm and suicidal thoughts, supporting them as they navigate their feelings of emptiness.

Do you want to talk to someone impartial about your difficulties? If you feel stuck in your life, psychoanalytic psychotherapy will help you to bring about change. I believe everyone should be listened to especially when experiencing emotional distress. I have experience working with people dealing with depression, anxiety, various forms of trauma, as well as broader questions around identity, sexuality and relationship issues. I am interested in a reflective approach to the meaning of life in addition to questions around human suffering, drawing on many years of studying philosophy and psychoanalysis.

Being neurodivergent myself, I've been drawn to work with autism, ADHD and other neurotypes, as well as the gender, sexuality, kink, and relationship diversity (polyamory/non-monogamy) community, including sex workers.
I believe that every person has the inner wisdom and potential to create a fulfilling life for themselves. However, at some point, most of us will find that we need external perspective and a space to explore issues that might make us feel stuck or hopeless. To me, counselling is a collaborative and creative relational process, and my role within it is to help people find their own personal power and joy, no matter their circumstances. I'm an energetic practitioner who will laugh and get excited with you, but also respect your rhythm and create space for grief, pain and stuckness, for as long as it's needed.

As a psychologist, I have been trained in a range of therapies and work integrating techniques from psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and systemic therapy to co-create a bespoke therapy that meets your unique needs. For some, this might mean exploring how past experiences continue to shape present feelings and behaviours, while for others it could involve breaking cycles of unhelpful thinking, managing difficult emotions, or finding new ways to strengthen relationships. My aim is to create a way of working that is tailored to you and helps you move towards greater self-awareness, resilience, and a sense of ease in everyday life.

You might be feeling torn between cultural expectations, family pressures, or a sense of not quite belonging anywhere. Many people I work with feel disconnected from themselves or unsure of who they are becoming. I offer a warm, reflective space where we can explore these experiences together, helping you make sense of your story and move towards a way of living that feels more grounded and true to you.

Or perhaps you suspect your loved one has a condition like Autism or ADHD- maybe they were recently diagnosed.
I specialise in helping parents and neurodivergent people understand the function of challenging behaviour. I use tried and tested strategies, adapted especially for people who are "different" to help neurodivergent people reduce behaviours that challenge. My approach is gentle and nurturing and prioritises the attachment bond.

I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years’ experience working in the NHS. I offer a warm and collaborative approach, drawing on evidence-based therapies including CBT and Compassion Focused Therapy. I have a particular interest in attachment theory and understanding how our early experiences affect us.

The majority of my clients are neurodivergent and/or queer and want to explore what that means for them with someone who understands. Are you living with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or the impact of past experiences that still affect how safe you feel in relationships? Maybe you struggle with self-esteem, overthinking, trauma responses, or patterns linked to neurodivergence such as burnout or masking? Some clients come questioning their identity, sexuality, or sense of self; others feel stuck using coping behaviours that no longer help. You don’t need a diagnosis, just the sense that something needs understanding.

I am an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist, working in both private practice and academia. When offering therapy, I strive to be non-judgmental, compassionate and warm. I see therapy as a collaborative process, where both you and I come together to mutually agree on your goals for therapy. I take special care to be aware of the intersections in our identities such as gender, ethnicity, race, sexuality, neurodivergence and ability levels. I also value being receptive to your needs and aim to help you navigate any difficulties you are experiencing and come out the other side.

My work is LGBTQIA+ affirming, ADHD/neurodivergence-aware and trauma-informed.
Therapy with me is not about sitting in silence while you try to figure everything out on your own. I ask questions, offer reflections, share what I notice, and gently challenge patterns when it feels helpful. Over time, you may begin to understand your emotions differently, and feel clearer about what you need.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioural therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
