Current crisis, Deeper issue, Self Care. Surprisingly quite often the thing that brings a person to seek support may be a way in to understanding deeper causes of unhappiness, anxiety or depression . Sometimes people live with a feeling of "something just not being quite right". Counselling can help develop Self-Awareness which in turn can be life changing! That’s the good news - but like most things in life it doesn’t happen without effort, and can be painful, but the results are definitely worth it! So be brave and you may look forward to personal growth and hopefully increased happiness. I look forward to hearing from you.

Some of the areas of counselling I deal with include bereavement and loss, depression , stress and anxiety, trauma, obsessive behaviours, relationship difficulties, transition and major life changes, low self-esteem and self-worth.
I understand approaching a counsellor for the first time can be daunting. From the outset I offer a safe, non-judgemental, confidential environment in which you can express your feelings and gain deeper insight into any difficulties you may be experiencing. If you are unsure, or you have any questions about accessing counselling, we can have a brief talk prior to committing to accessing sessions. I will aim to support you to feel at ease in taking this first step.

I am an integrative therapist using a range of approaches to help with issues such as loss, depression and anxiety.
At times, life can throw us curve balls, and although we've dealt with some of the most trying times, where we've managed to muddle through in the face of adversity, there are times in life where we start feeling stuck, anxious, low and unmotivated. Sometimes all we need is a sounding board to let out our frustrations when no-one else seems to understand and other-times we need help finding our answers on how to move forward. Whether its old patterns that keep repeating themselves or unexpected events which throw you off course, we all need a helping hand in our journey

I work with anxiety (panic attacks), depression , trauma (PTSD) and loss.
I am a qualified integrative counsellor, offering individuals a safe and confidential place for support and exploration. I believe that a respectful and non-judgmental environment is crucial to therapy, this is an essential element of the way I work. I always welcome whole authentic feelings from my clients, without putting a negative label on them. In order to explore overwhelming feelings such as: guilt, depression , anxiety, anger, loss, self-harm etc. without feeling judged, trust needs to be present. The decision to come to counselling is a courageous step - facing our difficulties is never easy but can be liberating.

I am very good at treating people with Anxiety, Depression , Personality Disorders, as well as those with traumatic experiences. I apply a very modern and effective type of dynamic psychotherapy called Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). I work on repressed feelings and emotions and help you to get rid of the pain and suffer to become a mature personality. For most people, psychological stress and unresolved traumas are so overwhelming that often leads to many other problems, such as low performance, low confidence, unpleasant encounters and a gradual destruction of well-being. If left untreated, these psychological issues can be transferred from one generation to the next, due to its lasting effects on children. Modern treatments in psychotherapy can help you overcome many types of psychological problems. People suffering from these problems can be helped to regain their sense of pride, efficiency, and effectiveness. My clients need to be well motivated, and cooperative.

The areas I mainly work with are bereavement, loss and grief, anxiety and depression , low self-esteem and low self-confidence, relationships issues and dealing with life changes.
Have you lately been thinking that it is time for YOU? That YOU would like to talk about what it's going on for you and be listened to? Is counselling right for YOU? As a talking therapy, counselling provides you with a safe and confidential environment where you are able to talk about your difficulties, personalise the solutions to your own problems and make decisions that are right for you. By creating a trusting and open relationship we can work together in focusing on your concerns, exploring what they mean to you and their impact on your life and finding ways to manage them more adequately.

Counselling is about investing time in yourself and people seek counselling for many different reasons. You may be experiencing unwanted thoughts and feelings that are having a negative impact on your life or have specific issues you wish to talk about that are affecting you. Sometimes we repeat old patterns of behaviour that affect our relationships and every day lives. I have particular experience in childhood trauma, domestic abuse, anxiety, depression , addiction and stress at work. Please give me a call or message for a free phone consultation to discuss how I can help you.

Issues I work with include, but are not limited to: Anxiety, Assertiveness, Bereavement, Depression , Existential Issues, Identity Issues, Phobia, LGBTQ+ Issues and Low Self-esteem.
Sometimes life’s challenges can feel like too much to handle alone. At those times it can help to have someone professional to talk to in confidence - I offer an understanding, supportive space in which we can work through lifes challenges together. My approach to psychotherapy is both affirming and challenging; supporting you to feel valued and heard whilst enabling you to move past avoidance and fear. I can help you explore elements of your life that are unsatisfactory and work towards making changes and choices that are more true to who you are now.

I am an experienced and qualified psychotherapist working with individual adults. I work from an analytic perspective - our experience of the past, both conscious and unconscious influences our present. Feelings of depression , anxiety or a lack of direction or meaning in life need to be understood in this broader context. By looking at our whole life we can uncover who we really are and where we wish to go. I offer a safe space where troublesome, dark and difficult feelings can be examined and explored - by bringing them into the light we open up the possibility of facing and understanding them.

I work with people who are trying to making sense of their place in the world, trying to answer questions of meaning, purpose and identity. If you're considering therapy, you may know what you want to work on, but feel stuck, frustrated, or in need of some support. You may know that something's not right but not know where to start. This may coincide with feelings of anxiety, depression , stress, or burn out. Psychotherapy is a space for you to discuss what's on your mind in a non-judgemental collaborative setting. This is a chance for you to tell your story, and make sense of what it means.

How are you today? Do you ever have moments where you realise everything isn’t okay? In today’s world, it can be really difficult to cope with life’s pressures and you may find that some days you just don’t feel “right”. Perhaps you feel low in mood or stressed and anxious. Maybe you’ve tried different ways to rid yourself of these feelings with limited success. Therapy can be a safe space to make sense of the things you’re struggling with, and work together to identify and develop the skills you need to manage.

I specialise in Anxiety Disorders, Depression , Bereavement and Trauma (including PTSD) with over 9 yrs.
You may experience unexpected disruption, chronic conditions, major life upheaval, triggering of past experiences, bereavement, and any of these could create anxiety, anger, fear, phobias, or depression . Understanding could fall away, your support system could become unhelpful, anti-depressants may not be effective and your coping mechanisms may not work. You may feel overpowered by your circumstances and perhaps seek support and reinforcement as you experience distress. You may want your complex issues to be contained and get some tools and techniques to cope. Perhaps you may just like to confide in someone and share experience.

As well as offering general counselling in areas such as depression , anxiety, relationships etc, I specialise in offering counselling to stroke survivors, or those with a brain injury, or their carers.
I am a person-centred Counsellor and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). There are times in life when people can experience unmanageable or emotionally overwhelming feelings and behaviours or maybe a trauma that may persist even if there is support from friends and loved ones. I encourage my clients to fully explore their experiences and help them accept who they are and what is out of their personal control, so they can better understand their current situation and improve their lives.

Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression counsellors in Watford. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
