I work with men who experience intrusive anxious thoughts that can sometimes set them into a spiral or down a rabbit hole of overthinking. These thoughts can come out of nowhere, feel hard to switch off and and take you away from things that are important to you, like feeling present with your family, friends or partner. Most of the men I support are high-functioning but exhausted. They're managing pressures with work, responsibilities at home and a mind that won't slow down. This can be tough. I help men steady their thoughts and build practical tools to feel calmer and more in control.

At times, people can feel overwhelmed by events or relationships in their lives. You may feel anxious, confused, depressed, frustrated and alone. You may be troubled by something you don’t understand, or something in your life isn’t working out as you want and you can’t seem to see the 'wood for the trees'. Trying to understand such events and feelings or make lasting positive changes can seem too difficult on your own, and this is where counselling/psychotherapy, EMDR or life coaching or a blend of these therapies can help.

Hi, my name is Rimpy Sandhu. I have been working in my private practice as a counsellor and psychotherapist for 13 years . I know it can be very scary and difficult to talk about your issues, revisit those painful memories. Sometimes it’s hard to recognise and express your own feelings. I offer a professional, supportive, confidential, non judgmental and ethical therapy in order to help with your presenting issues. Counselling helps you to understand yourself and to find coping strategies to deal with the day to day difficulties you might be facing.

Welcome! Are you looking for someone who listens with empathy but who will also intervene with strategies and tools during sessions? For tasks and experiments to carry out between sessions? My approach is both interactive and practical. I aim to thoroughly understand the issues and then to help adults, teenagers and couples towards creative change through a variety of approaches, tailored to their particular situations. I also offer supervision to other therapists. You can book a free 20 minute phone call to 'check me out' and for me to assess whether I think I can help you. After that sessions are 1 hour, usually fortnightly.

I specialise in helping adults who have issues with self-harm & suicidal thoughts as well as those who have suffered trauma and abuse at any stage in their lives. I also welcome all those who identify as neurodivergent as I have considerable experience with those on the autistic spectrum and ADHD. Having worked for a number of national mental health charities, I have seen the power of counselling from all sides. It can feel daunting to make contact with a therapist at first – this is a very common way to feel however finding the strength to do so is the first step towards changing your life. I am also a qualified couples counsellor

Whatever you're carrying right now, you don't have to carry it alone. Through therapy, we can explore parts of yourself that you feel unable to share with others; in a space where you really feel heard and seen. Perhaps you have experienced trauma or you are facing difficulties in relationships. If you're ready to feel lighter, we can start with a 15 minute chat to see if we're a good fit. I offer face to face and online sessions. Being integrative means I am trained in more than one approach to therapy. I offer sessions outdoors in Coventry, face to face in Honiley or online. If you're unsure or have questions, please reach out.

Welcome. The fact that you are here demonstrates a natural and healthy drive inside of you, a drive that has motivated you to want to connect and talk about things that are going on in your life. Whether it be a recent traumatic incident, persistent recurring low moods, overwhelming anxiety or a pattern of relating to others that has proved unsatisfactory, I would like to help. I aim to provide a safe but at times challenging environment where you will be encouraged to examine and let go of old and outdated ways of coping that whilst in the past may have been helpful are now getting in the way of the life you want to lead.

I have many years of experience working with a variety of client issues. I believe that we all have the potential to bring about positive change in our lives whatever our past experiences and therefore I always seek to provide hope. It is a particular delight to work with clients who reflect on the sessions between appointments however I am aware that for many individuals attending sessions can be well outside their comfort zone. I therefore adopt a gentle, encouraging approach allowing clients to work at their own pace.

You may look like you’re coping on the outside, but inside you feel anxious, overwhelmed, or constantly questioning yourself. Perhaps your mind rarely switches off, you feel driven to get everything “right”, or a harsh inner critic tells you you’re not good enough. Or perhaps you and your partner have become stuck in painful patterns of conflict, distance or misunderstanding, leaving you feeling unheard, disconnected or unsure how to move forward. Whether you’re seeking therapy as an individual or as a couple, I offer a space where you don’t have to navigate these challenges alone.

You feel like you can’t cope, you’re fed up, you’ve had enough. Your life isn’t what you want it to be. Living has become hard and there’s no joy in your world. It’s like everyone else except you is happy. You’re haunted by your past. You think you’ll never be happy again. You feel alone like no one else understands how hard your life is at the moment. On the outside you look fine but inside you feel like you’re dying. Everything you do feels like an act to look like you’re okay. You don’t know how to change things or what to do about it anymore.

LGBTQ+ Counsellors
Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?
Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialised training, either during their degree programme or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalisation in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?
Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?
While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialised training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
