We can all have difficulties in everyday life and encounter problems that we simply find hard to cope with alone. You may feel worried, anxious, low, confused, isolated or may be experience difficulties in relationships. You may be suffering from feelings of low self esteem or low self confidence. You may have been diagnosed with anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, depression, or maybe you are just feeling sad. When these feelings and thoughts persist and become overwhelming it may be difficult to know which way to turn.

Perhaps you would like to make changes in your life, but you don’t know where to begin, or you’re afraid to get started because you don’t want to get it wrong? Sometimes we get caught up in our daily lives, relying on auto-pilot, pushing aside our worries and concerns and not allowing space to process our emotions; or we might be facing difficulties in life that are just too big to manage on our own, making us feel stuck, anxious or disconnected on the inside. Relationships feel complicated. Something deeper is calling for our attention. Through a safe reflective space that enables you to process your thoughts, feelings and behaviour patterns, you'll develop a stronger sense of self, new ways of thinking, healthier relationships, emotional resilience and authenticity.

I have expertise in loss, change and bereavement I work with dementia and dementia carers as well as medical trauma, severe illness, cancer and pain.
Finding clarity in what you need isn’t always simple. With a background as a palliative-trained GP, I bring a grounded, real-world understanding of how complicated life can be. I’ve walked alongside people through grief (including suicide), illness, life's uncertainties, and the challenges that come with aging and cognitive decline—for individuals and the families who care for them. Shame and self-doubt can convince us that nothing will shift, but everyone deserves a space where they’re met with honesty, safety, and no judgment. My aim is to help you make sense of what’s happening and move toward a place that brings peace.

As a Clinical Psychologist, I have spent most of my career working in NHS services for older people. While I remain deeply passionate about this area, I also value the opportunity to work with clients across different life stages in private practice. I understand that sharing distressing thoughts, feelings, and experiences can take a great deal of courage. My aim is to create a safe, exploratory, and non-judgemental space where you feel supported, while also offering practical and personalised strategies to help you achieve meaningful change.

People come to psychotherapy and counselling for many different reasons. Perhaps it is a time of crisis or difficulty when feelings have become overwhelming and difficult to share with people that you might normally. It could be that this is linked to a desire to gain a deeper self-understanding. Simply talking to the right therapist for you can provide relief. I have a wide experience of working with different conditions and situations, in particular depression, anxiety, anger and relationship issues. I work with an emphasis on facilitating your enquiry in a safe and effective way, within a supportive relationship.

Perhaps you are feeling stuck or overwhelmed, navigating a life transition, relationship struggles, anxiety, or simply wanting to understand yourself better. You're curious about your patterns and open to gentle exploration, even when it feels uncomfortable. You value authenticity and want a space where you can be genuinely heard without judgment. You're ready to look at how past experiences might be influencing your present, and you're willing to sit with difficult feelings rather than rushing to fix them. You want more than just symptom relief - you're seeking deeper self-awareness, healthier relationships, and a sense of ease.

I'm an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor in South London, and I highly value my relationship with my clients. I bring 25 years' experience in mental health counselling and 10 years in private practice. I view the therapeutic relationship as a shared journey along your chosen path, where we navigate your worries and difficulties together. There will be ebbs and flows, peaks and troughs, and perhaps some fun along the way. When this therapeutic journey feels complete enough, your path will naturally lead you in a new direction.

At times of difficulty it can be helpful to explore your concerns with a trained practitioner and consider possible solutions in a safe and confidential setting. The focus of therapeutic work is centred on your experience, helping you to clarify the issues that are troubling you, your thoughts and feelings and enabling you to find solutions. This work can provide a way forward and help at times of crisis when difficulties can be extreme, such as depression and anxiety. It can also be helpful when there is a lack of enjoyment of life or recurring difficulties in relationships. Counselling can bring you a greater awareness of choice.

I work in what is described as an 'integrative' approach, ultimately this means having a Person-Centred base and then integrating elements from a number of evidence-based approaches including Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Therapy in order to meet the needs of each individual. For you, this means that the therapy you are provided with, is completely tailored to your specific needs as they change. I believe that everyone has the potential for growth and change and I offer a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you feel safe to explore areas of your life that you are struggling with.

Geriatric and Seniors Counsellors

Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?

Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, dementia, and physical mobility challenges.

How can geriatric therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?

Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

How is counselling for elderly different from counseling for other age groups?

Many aspects of geriatric counselling are similar to counselling in younger age groups; in general, counselling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. However, therapists who specialise in working with elderly clients may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counselling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

Can geriatric counselling help people who suffer from dementia?

Counselling can be highly effective for aging adults with dementia. While some therapists specialising in dementia may work with clients solely on topics surrounding memory loss, they can also assist clients with conditions that may co-occur at old age, such as anxiety or depression. Counsellors specialising in working with older adults can also offer an objective assessment of a client’s functioning or disease progression to caregivers, and they may be particularly knowledgeable about community resources that may benefit dementia clients and their families. Therapists specialising in dementia may also be trained in specialised forms of therapy for memory loss, such as Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST)—which can help mentally stimulate dementia clients to preserve cognitive functioning.
