I offer culturally sensitive therapy to individuals, couples and groups.
I offer support to individuals experiencing difficulties in their personal life or relationships with their partners, friends and significant others. We explore patterns of relating to ourselves and others, working towards recognising unhelpful dynamics, which can often result in a feeling of hopelessness and stuckness.

You might be holding things together on the surface — managing work, relationships, and responsibilities — while underneath feeling anxious, stuck, or under constant pressure to cope.
Together, we begin to explore where these patterns may have developed, how they show up in your day-to-day life, and what they may be trying to protect or manage—often linked to anxiety, depression, low mood, or ongoing stress—helping you understand yourself more clearly and opening up the possibility of responding differently over time.

If you are looking for couples therapy, or if you are seeking individual counselling with a focus on relationships (whether intimate, work or family) I can potentially help.
After a career in marketing and business leadership, I decided on a fresh start. My long career in business provides me with an understanding of the pressures busy Surrey families face. While I am not a career coach, workplace relationships and working life stresses and strains are areas some clients like to work with me on.

Are you coping with anxiety, relationship issues, life changes, loss, depression, stress, change, low self-esteem or perhaps you are just not feeling as you'd like?
I'm trained in many theories or approaches and I use these to blend the best solution for you. For example, CBT works really well for many people but not those who aren't able to commit to homework or don't like form filling. I specialize in anxiety, OCD including covert OCD or "Pure O", and bereavement issues.

I work from a small garden room that sits on the banks of the river Thames working with individuals, couples, families and groups.
Following years working in the education system, and having experienced the value personal therapy, I trained as a psychotherapist. During my 3 year Masters degree I worked in both the NHS and voluntary placements. My qualifications in Shamanic Practice and Sound Healing have highlighted how we might find healing through many different approaches.

I'm a BACP registered and NCPS accredited psychotherapist working with adults, couples and young people aged 14 and over.
My name is Maiia, and I'm a psychotherapist offering private therapy sessions online, over the phone or in person (you choose!). Life can be challenging. Sometimes it feels unfair, unjust even. You might feel lonely, misunderstood or judged. I want you to know that reaching out takes real courage, and you've already taken the first step by being here. I won't promise you a magic pill that takes away your worries overnight. But here's what I can promise: I'll do my best to understand what it's like to be you. I'll stand by you. I'll be your best ally as we work through whatever you're facing right now.

We all encounter life experiences such as relationships, work, loss, health-related and identity issues.
My approach to life and therapy is Person-Centred, that the client is the central part of the therapeutic relationship, your thoughts and feelings are the focus. My approach is neither directive or self-opinionated, believing that everyone can be empowered to find their own answers, working together to facilitate insight, and to discover a way forward.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
