Something isn't quite right — and you can't quite name it. You're managing on the outside, but underneath there's pressure, exhaustion, or a persistent sense that something important is going unaddressed. I work with adults navigating anxiety, stress, burnout, low mood, life transitions, relationship difficulties, ADHD, and neurodivergence. You don't need to arrive with a clear problem or a label; most of what matters doesn't fit neatly into either. Whatever brings you here, I'm glad you found your way. This is a space to slow down, look properly, and find out what's actually there.

Has life begun to feel like a constant cycle of getting through the day, only to wake up and do it all again? Does your mind feel stuck on repeat, replaying conversations, worrying about what comes next, or struggling to switch off even when you are exhausted? Has work started to feel like a prison of stress and anxiety, while people and social situations leave you irritated, drained, or wanting to be left alone? Over time, this can begin to affect relationships, confidence, boundaries, and how you feel about yourself.

Finding a psychotherapist can be daunting, with a lot of terminology and names that might feel complicated and mystifying. My view is that therapy doesn't need to be so confusing and shrouded in secrecy and strange terms. To put it simply, I offer you the chance to talk about whatever might be troubling you in total confidence at the same time, on the same day, in the same place, every week. That consistency, alongside the relationship we will develop, is an essential part of the healing process that therapy can provide.

Are you gripped by anxiety or tired-out because of a low mood and lack of purpose? Or is drink or drugs causing problems in your life? Perhaps you're continually seeking sex or using pornography even when you don't really want to be? Or maybe you just need to be able to talk through what's on your mind without feeling judged, knowing that something isn’t right, even when it’s hard to name exactly what it is. These are the main reasons men come to me for counselling, working online (UK/international) or in-person (south Manchester).

I work with people facing all kinds of difficulties, and I specialise in chronic pain, health anxiety, and long-term health conditions. Many clients are exhausted by carrying the weight of a health challenge alone, often feeling like they're just getting through each day rather than living it. Drawing on my NHS background, I help clients feel more in control again, whatever brought them to therapy.

Perhaps you are experiencing relationship difficulties, a loss such as bereavement or redundancy or are feeling anxious or depressed. I work with couples and individuals in person, and via Zoom/Skype. I have specialist training in couples therapy. All couples come together with high hopes. And a satisfying relationship is key to happiness. Yet all relationships do face challenges. For example, has communication broken down or stopped? Do conversations turn into arguments? Are you feeling unheard, unwanted and alone? Or are you feeling boxed-in and overwhelmed? Are there trust issues? Has someone had an affair? Is there conflict around your sex-life, fertility issues, parenting etc? Whatever your situation, your relationship is important to you, and deserves help.

There are many reasons that bring people to therapy and the hard part is trying to find the right therapist for you. There are so many of us and some of the terms we use might be even more confusing and weird sounding. It doesn't have to be like that though. As a fully qualified and registered psychotherapist i see therapy as an opportunity to talk about whatever is troubling you in total confidence. As your therapist i won't be telling you what to do, however we will explore the conflicts and dilemmas you have and really look at what it means to "BE" you and have a greater understanding of your unique way of being in the world.

Men's Issues Counsellors
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
