I can support you with manifestations of anxiety and depression; grief; relational struggles within family and romance; PTSD + trauma; lack of life purpose and meaning; psychedelic integration; spiritual emergence/awakenings, and more.
I invite you to deepen with me. As we begin to form a relationship of trust, honesty and integrity, we may experience a collaborative unfolding. Together, we will navigate your emotional landscape; paying compassionate attention to the energy that arises between us. Most, if not all of our pains and challenges in this life arise from an injurious relational experience. As such, entering a relational therapeutic encounter offers opportunity for these wounds to present themselves within a culture of trust and safety. Let our relationship become not just a training ground, but a space to process the grief that holds so many of us back.

I am an honest, compassionate counsellor offering the kind of down-to-earth no-nonsense approach I would have appreciated when I attended therapy. I was a skeptical client, now turned therapist, so I have some idea of what you might be feeling. I firmly believe that you will have been trying your best to live a good life (whatever that means for you), but we all need help and support at times. When you’re feeling anxious or depressed it can be tempting either to desperately power on through or to hide away, perhaps making matters even worse. As I learned myself, asking for help is not a weakness; it's a strength.

I have over 20 years experience supporting young people and adults experiencing common mental health difficulties, including Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder ( PTSD), Social Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Phobias and Panic Disorder.
Hi, I’m Cat, an experienced, Integrative Counsellor (MBACP/MNCPS Acc.) & CBT Psychotherapist, who’s worked therapeutically with adults & young people for over 20 years in several professional roles, including family support, Public Health, CAMHS contracts and NHS Talking Therapies. Whilst working in NHS Talking Therapies, I heard and felt the frustrations of clients who wanted more connection, space to process and therapeutic depth from their therapy, which the NHS model couldn’t provide. This fuelled my passion to offer a personalised and authentic practice, working at your pace and focusing on the things that matter to you.

I have done my own therapy and have lived experience of ADHD, anxiety and trauma/ PTSD.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, not able to relax? Life can sometimes feel like it is running away from you and it’s common to feel like you can’t catch your breath. Therapy can give you the space and time to think about your own needs, overcome the challenges you are facing and find some peace of mind. My approach is person-centred, meaning you decide what you want to explore, and you decide the pace of the work, so that you are in control at all times. This isn’t CBT, there is no ‘homework’ in between sessions, but I can help you find videos, websites and books that can support you in learning more, if that’s your aim.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
