ONLINE: Therapy for those who feel stuck, overwhelmed or misunderstood I am a Chartered and Registered Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience. I work with individuals who may appear strong on the outside but internally carry stress, shame or a sense of feeling “stuck.” You may have coped alone for a long time, or felt misunderstood in past therapy. I offer a calm, safe space to explore complex feelings and patterns — especially for those who find it hard to trust or fear judgement, and who want to understand themselves more deeply, not just ‘cope’. Therapy here is not about perfection — it’s about honest transformation.

I am an Integrative Counsellor, this means that I can alter my way of working to better suit my client's personal needs. Working this way means that I can bring different skills and theories into session that I feel my client may benefit from rather sticking to just one counselling theory. I believe that a counselling journey needs to as unique as the person embarking on it. The aim of my counselling service is to help people work towards a brighter future, one step at a time. When working on your mental health, people think of this long scary process, what I aim to do is break this journey down into steps, keeping you in control.

How are you today? It’s a question we hear often, but don’t always feel able to answer honestly. I offer a calm, safe, and non-judgemental space where you can slow down and gently explore whatever feels important to you. You may find yourself laughing, crying, feeling stuck, or unsure — all of this is okay. Whatever you bring will be met with care, understanding, and respect, and we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you. This is your time, and your space.

Many people come to therapy because something no longer fits. You may be aware of mental health labels but it doesn’t fully explain what you’re experiencing. You might be managing life on the outside while quietly struggling within. My work is for people who want to understand their mental health in a real, human way, without being defined by diagnoses.

I take a systemic approach to therapy, which focuses on building a therapeutic relationship based on authenticity, curiosity, neutrality, and acceptance. In my therapeutic work, I focus on the interrelationships of family members, the communication systems in place and the interplay between them. I try to integrate all therapeutic currents into my work and to adapt my methods to the individual needs of the person and the family. I have worked with clients experiencing relationship difficulties with partners, children, and other family members, in addition to depression, anxiety, bereavement, loss, and trauma.

Confidence/low self esteem.
Hi. At times we are challenged in life and we may need help to work through the issues that can affect us. Whatever we are experiencing, it can impact on our whole life greatly. At times admitting we need help can be a long and hard journey and just getting to this point of looking for a therapist means you’ve addressed so much already and that you wish to take the next step. It's finding the right therapist for you, just like any other relationship is how you connect that enables you to feel safe and be open so you can work through your issues. So take your time to find the right one as that relationship can help you so much.

Our emotional world can be exhausting, overwhelming and anxiety provoking and art making can capture this in different ways, helping your confidence and self esteem.
I will offer you a listening ear and time, for you to tell me your story. Art therapy is not about skill, or the ability to paint, draw and create anything that may put you off the word 'art'. Instead it is you using art materials to look differently at something that is important to you. You will make pieces of work at your own time and pace.

I am an integrative counsellor; psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and menopause specialist coach. My therapeutic practice is based largely on the relational approach, this means I place great emphasis on the relationship between you and I as it is our relationship which becomes the vehicle for your therapeutic journey. Each person is unique and I will draw on modalities that I feel will most suit you and the issues that you present to me. During our sessions I would like you to have as much autonomy as possible but I shall also give direction should you need it.

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
