Men's Issues Counselling in Uxbridge
You don’t want to be a burden. You’re kind to everyone else. You push through, carry everything alone and everyone thinks you've got it sorted. Strength is silence but silence is exhausting.
I work with people who carry a lot quietly, who tell me, life is not that bad other people have it worse, whilst they are struggling through each day.
Who give endless understanding to others, but find it difficult to extend the same care to themselves. My clients tell me I bring a calm and accepting feeling to our sessions. You don’t need to wait until it feels “bad enough.” If something’s not sitting right, we can explore it - together.

I work in a safe space where my clients can learn to understand their thought processes and why they feel the way that they do. I then use psychological models, my training and experience to tailor strategies for each individual to help that person to work towards his/her goals for personal change, growth and self-development. My work is goal-oriented and is evidence-based. I employ personalised techniques that enable clients to understand what blocks them from reaching their potential, and then help them to achieve the life that they want for themselves. My experience thus enables me to work flexibly/empathically & ethically sound

Life can throw challenges at us that prove too much for us to cope with on our own. I believe that we are not to blame for the difficulties we might face, and that they are the natural consequences of what we have experienced in life. If you are feeling stuck and unable to change things yourself, or repeating difficult and destructive patterns of behaviour, working with and talking with someone not involved in your life can help make profound change. Together we can explore what has helped to shape the way you are now, and how you want to be in the future, in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space.

Success often comes with hidden costs. Many high-performing people find themselves feeling stuck — outwardly accomplished but inwardly restless, anxious, or disconnected. Perhaps you’ve achieved what you set out to, yet something still feels missing. Maybe stress, perfectionism, or relationship challenges are taking a quiet toll. You might notice difficulty switching off, persistent self-doubt, or a sense that your drive for success is running you instead of fueling you.
If this resonates with you, know that you are not alone, and you don’t need to figure it out by yourself.

I am a psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). I worked for five years providing long-term psychotherapy to individuals with histories of addiction and childhood trauma. This gave me an understanding of the extent to which adverse early experiences can impact on behaviour and psychic functioning in adulthood. I have undertaken post-qualifying training in the treatment of PTSD, C-PTSD and dissociation. I have a particular clinical and theoretical interest in states of depersonalisation, derealisation, trauma-related dissociation, and narcissistic personality structures.

I work with couples and individuals in person, and via Zoom/Skype. I have specialist training in couples therapy. All couples come together with high hopes. And a satisfying relationship is key to happiness. Yet all relationships do face challenges. For example, has communication broken down or stopped? Do conversations turn into arguments? Are you feeling unheard, unwanted and alone? Or are you feeling boxed-in and overwhelmed? Are there trust issues? Has someone had an affair? Is there conflict around your sex-life, fertility issues, parenting etc? Whatever your situation, your relationship is important to you, and deserves help.

You are probably struggling with something in your life which you have been unable to resolve yourself. This may be a relationship or sexual problem, anger issues, family problems, anxiety/depression or maybe just a feeling that something is missing in your life. You may have found that you haven't been able to come up with a solution and that talking to family or friends feels like you're burdening them or it is hard to get an objective perspective. Instead of feeling like you're going round in circles and repeating the same mistakes, you'd like to feel more free and empowered.

You are probably outwardly successful with a good business or career. Maybe you're an entrepreneur and even had one, or several, successful exits. And yet you're feeling the lack - lack of connection, lack of confidence, lack of command over your business and your relationships. You don't want to feel anxious, uptight and stressed. Instead, you want to be invigorated, energised, fulfilled. There's a sense of being so much more than you are currently feeling. Replacing limited with limitless. You're looking for something to have a profound impact on how you are leading your life.

Do you feel stuck, lost or like you’re living on autopilot – things look fine on the outside, but inside, something feels off? Maybe you’re functioning, but not fulfilled. Or you’ve been wearing a mask for so long, you’re unsure what’s underneath. It’s not a crisis, but you’re wondering: is this really it? If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. I work with people who feel conflicted about questioning their identity, career, relationships or purpose when everything looks good on paper. I help you make sense of what's happening, get clarity about what you actually want, and take steps toward a life that feels genuinely yours.

Men's Issues Counsellors
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.
How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.
What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
