Domestic Abuse Counselling in Twickenham
It can be really hard asking for help. It can be even harder to think about your own needs when you’re so used to caring for others. What if we’re seen as a failure for not being able to do it all on our own? It can make us feel stuck, trapped even, behind our own smiles and silence. But I see you and I hear you. Life doesn’t have to feel this way. A lot of my clients find it hard taking up space, who have built their lives on prioritising the needs and feelings of others, leading them struggling to identify let alone ask for what they want.

Most people feel anxious, stressed or low at some point in their lives, but often try to struggle through on their own. I understand how daunting it can be to seek professional advice, but I have successfully helped many people with a wide variety of problems.

Experiencing anxiety, depression, problems in relationships or some more elusive trouble that is difficult to name? There are many situations that prompt people to seek help when they encounter a problem in living and struggle to find a way through confusion and emotional suffering. Talking things trough helps. As a therapist, my primary concern is to create a warm and respectful relationship that would provide support as well as encourage you to express your feelings and reflect upon what is going on for you. Rather than being a neutral observer, I seek to involve myself in your effort to deal with your distress.

You may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, overthinking, low self-esteem or difficult experiences from your past that continue to affect you today. Perhaps you understand some of the reasons you feel this way, but knowing why hasn't been enough to change it. You might feel overwhelmed, disconnected, constantly on edge, or caught in patterns of thinking, relationships or behaviour that you can't seem to shift. You don't need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy. We can start with what is happening for you now, understand what may be driving it, and work together towards meaningful and lasting change.

Hello, I am Aldona. You are here so maybe it means you are thinking about counselling or psychotherapy. Investing in mental health is as important as physical. Anybody can benefit from therapy no matter what age or gender you are. It can be very rewarding because it helps you be the person you want to be. In these times of uncertainty, uneasy economic and political situation; isolation, bereavement and also historic emotional issues could be experienced more frequently and intensively. Difficulties experienced for a prolonged time can lead to somatic problems. “A good life is a process, not a state of being" (Carl Rogers)

I work with professional people, either couples or individuals who are struggling in their relationships.
I help them move forward by developing insight into their difficulties, and then unblocking the obstacles to change.

I became a therapist after facing challenges in my own childhood, which showed me how transformative understanding and support can be. Over the years, I’ve worked with people experiencing grief, loss, adoption-related experiences, and ongoing stress.
Painful or distressing memories and thoughts sometimes keep returning, no matter how hard we try to avoid or manage them. Putting others first, struggling to say no, or pushing yourself to keep going can feel familiar. These coping strategies helped at the time, but over the years they can become exhausting or feel like the new “normal.”

I've supported adults in women's services, community counselling and corporate mental health, working with trauma, cancer, menopause, burnout, neurodiversity and abuse.
You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck or not yourself. Many people come to me after cancer treatment, during surgical or chemical menopause, or when burnout has left them running on empty.
Some come as couples, trying to stay connected when illness, stress or big changes have shaken things. Others are neurodivergent or exploring whether they might be, feeling stretched thin or misunderstood.
If parts of this echo your own experience, we can look at it together in a way that feels manageable and begin to understand what’s been happening and what might help.

I wonder if you have been feeling sad, stressed or anxious? Have these feelings been with you for a long time? Are you wondering when they will reappear? It’s like dreading what is around the corner and finding it hard to enjoy or feel good in the present. Other people look like they’re having fun but your world is a shade of grey. Things that you loved doing no longer give you happiness and it's hard to concentrate. At times it takes lots of energy to go out or spend time with people who care about you. Your confidence and ability to cope disappear as you become stuck and the people around you become as worn down as you feel.
