How do you prioritise self care when it doesn’t even make it onto the list most days? How do you retain your relationships and emotional connections with the people you love, when you can’t bring yourself to answer the phone for millionth time that day? I’m not a business coach. I’m a Psychotherapist in business, who has done the 4 years of weekly therapy, returns to therapy when I need to screw my head back on, in a world that continues to be organised chaos. People like us don’t go to therapy because we just don’t have the time. So flexibility, patience and straight talking therapists, like me, are necessary, for people like us.

Do you often feel worn out from always putting others first? You may struggle with people-pleasing, feeling overly responsible for others’ feelings or needs, or staying in relationships that leave you drained and off-balance. You might find it hard to say no, set boundaries, or assert your needs, and feel guilty when you finally do. Over time, this can become a pattern that feels impossible to break, keeping you stuck in fear of confrontation, rejection, or disappointing those around you. You want to feel confident in yourself, express your needs without guilt, and build fulfilling, balanced relationships.

My professional journey spans over two decades. I've dedicated over 20 years to the field of education, where I have played a crucial role in supporting children's mental health to foster resilience. This experience includes two years as a school counsellor and mental health lead, providing students with the guidance and support they need to overcome their challenges. I've also spent five years as a divorce coach, assisting couples and individuals as they navigate the often difficult process of separation and divorce.

Hi, hello. My name is Kate, and I’m a person-centred, relational therapist. I understand how daunting it can feel to acknowledge that something isn’t right and to reach out for help. My aim is to help you feel at ease and supported, and to answer any questions you may have along the way. Having experienced self-esteem issues throughout my life, I know firsthand the power of therapy and how life-changing it can be. This experience led me to retrain as a therapist so that I could offer others the same sense of safety, understanding, and support that I received.

I help midlife women have an anxiety free menopause. Women in transition, who feel anxious, stuck and overwhelmed, and know something needs to change, but don’t know where to start, to step into their next, most aligned chapter with calm, confidence, and clarity. If you’re a woman navigating menopause alongside life’s bigger shifts…you’re in the right place. Most Menopause coaches give their focus to the physical symptoms of menopause. I don’t. My focus is on addressing the psychological and emotional impacts of menopause. The mental stress of menopause is too often overlooked. It’s time to change that.

I support those navigating the deeply personal and often complex journey of fertility, pregnancy, and early parenthood. Whether you’re trying to conceive, going through fertility treatment such as IVF, or making decisions around family planning, you don’t have to hold it all on your own. You might come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, grieving, uncertain, or simply in need of a space that is yours. I have specialist experience working with those affected by miscarriage, recurrent miscarriage, and baby or infant loss. These experiences can feel isolating, layered, and hard to put into words.

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realised.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
