With a specialist interest in working with young people and their families, I have enjoyed particular successes in helping teenagers and young adults manage both mild and complex social anxiety; generalised anxiety; phobias; and OCD.
Perhaps you’re a teenager or young adult, who experiences physical symptoms of anxiety (such as stomach aches or racing heart), which make you want to avoid certain situations. Or maybe you’re a parent or guardian, eager to get the best support for a loved one who struggles with anxious thoughts or behaviours. Rest assured, you’ve come to the right place. I care. My interest in providing timely treatment for difficulties such as these is the reason why I founded Flourishing Futures Psychology. I too was prone to getting tangled up with anxiety when I was younger, so I know how it can try to trip you up.

I have a specialist knowledge of OCD with extensive clinical experience and I have authored articles on treating OCD using CBT and multi-theoretical approaches.
What can I offer as a psychologist? I am sensitive, warm and professional. My training has been extremely thorough and covered a range of therapeutic modalities, which have been employed across a broad range of clinical settings. My approach to practice centres around the shared space that therapy offers and an attempt to understand people in their fullness. We are all more than our psychological distress and with support, we can bring the parts of ourselves that have been left in its shadow into the light. I am a published author and lecture at two London based universities. Feel free to get in touch for an initial conversation.

We are all unique individuals. I see people who suffer from anxiety, depression, addictions, relationship difficulties and trauma as well as other difficulties. I will aim to help you make sense of what is currently going on for you and then to set goals or a way forward.. I believe that clients need to experience compassion and kindness as well as often, a structured way of working with specific difficulties. If structure is less of a goal and need, I aim to provide a settling in which trust is foremost and so creating a safe space to talk about difficult emotions.

CBT is a person-centred approach which works well for naming and working on specific problems such as anxiety, low mood and OCD.
Hello, life is hard isn't it? We all need help sometimes, and there's no shame in that. In my work I get alongside people and see the world from their perspective. If I was to work with you, we would spend time understanding the nature of the problem that brought you to therapy. We can work out what is keeping the problem going and what getting better looks like. Therapy helps you to know yourself better and see the patterns that are holding you back and work towards changing them. I am also a supervisor and mentor, particularly for newly qualified therapists. My aim is to help you be a contented version of your self.

Many people who come to see me feel overwhelmed by anxiety, past trauma, or difficult life transitions. You may find yourself replaying painful memories, struggling with self-doubt, or feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to change. Some clients have experienced abuse, loss, or relationships that have left emotional wounds. My clients are often thoughtful adults who have been coping alone for a long time but want things to change. Together we create a supportive space where you can explore your experiences, understand their impact, and begin developing healthier ways of moving forward.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
