H&N Psychology (Health and Neuro Psychology Services) is a private service offering psychological therapy and educational groups for individuals struggling with their mental health or adjusting to life after illness or injury, or for those with a diagnosis of ADHD/Autism/AuDHD. It grew out of years of Dr Atkin and Dr Woollard working side by side in the NHS, supporting people in busy hospital settings, and learning first-hand what really helps.
We’ve found that the most meaningful change happens when there’s space for genuine collaboration. We clearly set out a plan for our sessions and timelines so you know what to expect.

As a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years of mental health experience, I work with adults and adolescents/young adults who are struggling but ready to make sense of what's going on for them. They might be living with anxiety, low mood, OCD, trauma, the psychological impact of a health condition, be navigating a difficult life transition or workplace stress. What they have in common is a desire to understand themselves better and move forward. I help by taking the time to truly understand each person's unique experience, build a clear formulation, and use evidence-based approaches to create real, lasting change.

You're exhausted, overwhelmed, and perhaps starting to wonder if you'll ever feel like yourself again. Maybe you're navigating Long Covid, CFS, or a chronic health condition that's taken more than your physical health: it may have taken your confidence, your identity, and your sense of safety. Or perhaps anxiety, trauma or grief has left your nervous system permanently on edge. I work with adults and young people who are curious about what it would be like to stop fighting their bodies and start getting curious about them. Recovery begins when we feel safe, heard and understood.

Relational psychoanalytic, DBT
I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist. The key to my work with clients is the belief that through a psychotherapeutic relationship we can gain insights into our patterns of behaviour. By working relationally we can also explore the possibility for change and begin to think of alternative positions that can lead toward a more compassionate and fulfilled version of ourselves. I have successfully completed the training as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist at The Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis. UKCP Member.

Life can be complex and challenging at times. We may feel anxious, sad, lost or overwhelmed by our relationship, work, loss of a loved one, lack of confidence or low self-worth. We may find ourselves struggling with depression, insecurity, lack of sleep, infidelity, shame, infertility and we lose hope that we'll ever feel differently again. It's at times like these that you may have wondered how psychotherapy can help you. You may feel nervous about seeking help, which is quite normal. However, you'll find a relaxed and warm atmosphere while working with me.

Alongside CBT, I integrate approaches such as EMDR, ACT, DBT and Compassion Focused Therapy to support meaningful, practical and lasting change tailored to the individual rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
I often work with adults who appear to cope well on the outside, but internally feel overwhelmed, stuck in overthinking, emotionally exhausted or disconnected from themselves. Many come with anxiety, OCD, trauma-related difficulties, burnout, low mood or relationship patterns they are struggling to change. I aim to provide a supportive and collaborative space where we build a shared understanding of what may be keeping difficulties going, while tailoring therapy to the individual so that change feels meaningful, practical and lasting.

Dialectical Behaviour (DBT) Counsellors
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
