At any age we can find ourselves out of our depths and in need of various degrees of support, by building a trusting and open therapeutic relationship we can explore together your problems in a safe, warm, and non-judgemental space. Counselling can support you through difficult periods in your life and help in gaining a deeper understanding of yourself. I am honoured to work with children, young people and adults during difficult and stressful times using a pluralistic approach.

As a Person-Centred practitioner, Empathy, Acceptance and Honesty are at the core of my practice. I bring a warmth to the counselling room which allows my clients a safe place to explore whatever they bring. I believe that in viewing each person as an individual a unique process takes place, where, through active listening, healing can occur. I have learnt that although past events cannot be changed, what can be changed over time is the relationship with your feelings in regard to the traumatic situation experienced and what you have grown to believe about yourself.

If you find that words or language is a barrier to understanding yourself and your challenges then music therapy is for you. Being playful with instruments can seem daunting, but you do not need any particular skill and I will help support you in building your confidence to explore and create in a way that helps you gain insight into your emotions and understanding of yourself.

OUTDOOR 1 is 15-20 minutes from Falmouth, Truro & Redruth. Option 2 is Helston. How messy is your bag? Do you feel guilt, shame, anxiety or stress when you sneak a peak? Do you self-attack, self-criticise, self-doubt or self-blame? How about we tip out the contents and look together from a perspective of kindness and compassion, no matter what might be inside? Sifting through at your own pace, looking curiously at your 'stuff'. What leads you to emotional unrest & negative thinking and what will bring forth a sense of certainty, self-assurance & positive thoughts.

Hello, I am Jessica, a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist for Musicians. Does any of this sound familiar? Your life— your music— feels heavy. You’ve spent months— maybe even years feeling ‘off’ and you’re ready to get to the bottom it. Sure, call yourself a musician– you’re just not sure who that person is anymore. You’ve done everything you were ‘supposed to do’ to ‘make it’, only to realise you’re still feeling unfulfilled, dissatisfied and empty. You’re struggling to process painful past experiences and you’re ready to move forward with healing and clarity. The good news is that you've come to the right place.

I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor who has worked within the public sector and with private clients over a number of years. I use a combined approach to psychotherapy as I believe that there is not one single approach that can successfully treat each client in all situations. I am an experienced warm and compassionate Practitioner and believe that the quality of the relationship between Therapist and Client is fundamental. I offer a safe and confidential space, where together, we can explore areas which matter to you, so you can make appropriate changes, feel in control of your life and develop through in-depth sessions.

In these uncertain times we have been given a unique opportunity that we must not waste to re-evaluate what is important and meaningful in our lives. Do you want to be able to identify those areas of your life that need careful reflection and examination in order to make the best decisions possible going forward for your wellbeing and then implement those decisions?

The ideal client in therapy for me would be someone who is motivated or has hope to change and willing to do the work to make positive changes in their life. My client could be struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and many other mental health difficulties but would be committed to addressing these issues and finding healthier ways of coping or be open to make a little change in their life. Their goals would be to develop self-awareness, improve their mental and emotional well-being and build stronger connections with themselves and others.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
