Hello, I'm a UKCP and BACP registered child and adolescent psychotherapist. I work with children, young people and young adults aged 5–25, offering creative, relational, and trauma-informed therapy. My work supports young people in making sense of their feelings, behaviours and relationships — helping them grow in confidence, self-awareness and connection. I offer a non-judgmental space for young people to explore difficult feelings, develop resilience, and build a stronger sense of self. My aim is to meet each child or young person with sensitivity, creativity and care — helping them feel seen and supported.

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling anxious, stressed, or physically and emotionally overwhelmed — sometimes living with chronic pain, fatigue, or a sense of disconnection from themselves or others. They may have experienced trauma, grief, or ongoing patterns of self-criticism and exhaustion. Often, they have tried talking therapies before but sense that something deeper within the body or emotions still needs attention. Their goal is not just to reduce symptoms, but to feel calmer, more balanced, and connected to who they truly are.

Hi, my name is Anja. Welcome to my page! It takes courage to take the first steps into therapy. My clients often come to me feeling anxious and overwhelmed, being unsure how to move forward. Only feeling that they need help and something needs to change. In these difficult moments, therapy can be immensely helpful. I am a qualified counsellor offering my sessions in English and German. My practice is holistic, trauma-informed and neuro-affirmative, because I believe in supporting the whole person.

Hello and welcome. I offer a safe and supportive space to explore whatever feels important to you, whether that is thoughts, feelings or difficult life experiences. Using compassionate and somatic inquiry, grounded in mindfulness practice, we work with whatever arises in an accepting and non-judgemental way. Through these explorations we can start to gain insights and clarity into stuck patterns and behaviours which may no longer serve us. In doing so, we give space for new possibilities to emerge in how we live, relate and move through the world, allowing for a greater sense of authenticity, ease and freedom.

In life’s journey we experience many ups and downs with issues we find difficult to cope with. To have someone there who’s warm, supportive and non judgemental can help to make that journey a little easier. To be heard and understood can aid in the process of understanding our inner feelings and emotions and help us to find successful ways of managing the difficulties that life throws at us. I can offer a safe and confidential place for you to share, explore and work through those difficulties which may be causing you distress.

I offer two types of therapy; talking therapy and EMDR. I work using a mainly psychodynamic approach. An approach to therapy which means that we will explore what lies beneath your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. We will think together about your current and past experiences, and how they may have shaped your beliefs and relationships today. My approach is warm and professional. I believe that talking helps and that therapy opens a door to new understanding and possibilities.

Whilst the reasons people access counselling varies, life’s challenges can leave any one of us feeling overwhelmed at times. Perhaps this is a new feeling that you’ve never experienced before, or a familiar one that you know only too well? Either way therapy can offer the space to release some of this stress, break free from patterns keeping us stuck and gain clarity about what it is we want and need. Developing a greater self awareness can be life changing, and lead to a more confident and resilient you.

Considering counselling can seem daunting and I appreciate your strength and courage shown to reach my page. I believe if we are seen and heard and can express ourselves, we are well placed to enjoy good mental health, but this does not always come easily. I have experience supporting people with anxiety, depression, panic and confusion and when stressful life events impact our ability to cope. I can also support you if you have problems in relationships, loss of any kind, or coping with illness or pain. By working together we can explore your needs, deepen your self-awareness and ultimately progress towards healing and recovery.

Feeling anxious, unsettled or sad can feel like a lonely place to be in our lives. I work with anxiety and depression and have further experience in working with addiction and abuse. Whether it's a challenging life event, relationship, job or a sense of ongoing unhappiness that feels hard to pin-point, I offer a calm and friendly space in which we can talk through your issues at your pace to explore what you might need. Rather than advise, I gently support you to find the way forward that feels right for you.

Life can feel really overwhelming at times. You might be going through loss, big changes, or challenges with your health, relationships, or work. Maybe you're feeling stuck and unsure how to move forward. You may be aware now that it's time to make sense of what's been happening, notice the patterns that keep showing up and find new ways of responding to the people and situations around you. I offer a warm, supportive space where we can explore what's going on beneath the surface - together, at your own pace and without judgement. Sometimes we all need a little space to breathe, reflect and feel understood.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
