Are you struggling with anxiety or depression, feeling like you’re never quite “good enough”?
In our work together, we’ll explore what’s been difficult for you and what’s brought you here. You’ll have space to make sense of your experiences and find ways to cope day to day. If you’d like, we can also look deeper—, not to find what’s “wrong,” but to understand what’s happened and how it’s shaped you.

Thinking about trying to access therapeutic support for yourself, or a family member, can be a difficult and sometimes confusing process, with there being many types of therapists around, all offering slightly different experiences, often being trained in different models and approaches. It can also be a minefield trying to work out whether the person is appropriately qualified, and registered with the appropriate professional bodies. I am therefore happy to offer a short phone call, or video call, to answer some of these questions, and to see whether you feel I am the right fit for you, or your family member.

Individual counselling: In my work with a range of clients with a variety of needs (such as anxiety, low mood, depression, relationship issues and ADHD) but have a great deal of experience working with bereavement and loss.
Relationships are beautiful, messy, and deeply human. I’ve seen how silence can grow between two people who once couldn’t stop talking, and how resentment can sneak in where laughter used to thrive. I’ve also seen how healing happens—slowly, bravely, and sometimes with tears and breakthroughs in the same breath. What I help with: Feeling disconnected or misunderstood Constant arguments or silent tension Rebuilding after betrayal or infidelity Navigating major life changes together Exploring intimacy and sexual connection Preparing for marriage or long-term commitment

Sometimes the challenges to our happiness are clear—like anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship issues.
I believe dedicating time to get to know yourself with kindness and understanding can lead to acceptance. That therapy isn't about fixing you; it's about empowering you to explore your unique life story and find those answers within yourself. I offer a safe and non-judgmental space where you can freely express any and all of your thoughts and feelings.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
