There comes a moment - sometimes slowly, sometimes all at once - when we realise something needs attention. A feeling, a pattern, a memory that won’t stay quiet. Counselling is a place where we can listen closely to what’s going on beneath the noise. It’s not about ‘saying the right thing’ - it’s about being together with what’s true, in a space that allows you to breathe a little deeper. Some people come with much to say, others bring silence or nudges that don’t yet make sense. It’s all welcome. For those who feel drawn to it, I also offer therapeutic songwriting sessions.

I offer a welcoming space when times are difficult; you may need someone to talk to about relationship issues, support with feeling low or anxious, or maybe you'd like to explore feelings about your past. I provide a neuro-affirming space; whether you have a formal diagnosis or are self-diagnosed. My experience includes supporting teenagers, as well as adults. I also have an interest in supporting parents, including those with premature babies; something I have personal experience of. We can work together to help you feel less stressed or worried, to find more balance in life, to notice your strengths, and discover coping skills.

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I centre my work on building a relationship of trust with my clients, where we can safely explore each person's inner world. In my work, be it with children, young people or with adults, I am keenly interested in supporting the whole individual. Sessions with children are more art-and-play based. Whatever the client's age, my approach is highly relational and based on building trust and atuning to each client with presence and empathy. I also offer parent work sessions for parents who wish to address aspects of their relationship with their children and their family dynamics.

I love working with people of all ages - from 11 years old into retirement. Young people often come to counselling because they are experiencing difficulties. Together we'll try to understand these more fully and develop skills to manage them and the associated feelings. This process often helps the young person learn more about themselves and what they want. Adult clients often come because they are stuck in unhelpful patterns. Together we'll look under surface at the feelings, beliefs and behaviours that may be causing the stuck-ness. Looking at aspects of ourselves that aren't usually seen often encourages self growth.

The problems of daily life, and our personal past can hinder us in feeling fulfilled, of living with meaning and purpose. Problems with relationships, finding yourself in unwanted circumstances, feeling stuck, trapped, overwhelmed...What can help you make the kind of life you want? We establish what you hope for and what's getting in the way. Then, we find the paths that take you where you want to go. It's a partnership in curiosity and investigation; a time to experiment with new ways of living, and throw out old ways that no loniger serve you. There's no set agenda: change arises in your own time and manifests in your own way.

If you’ve grown used to tuning in to what others need, you may find it hard to know what you need — or even what you’re feeling. You might find your sense of worth rises and falls depending on how people respond to you. Over time, this can leave you anxious, unseen, and uncertain of who you really are. In our work together I offer a calm, steady space where you can begin to turn towards yourself. A place where your thoughts, feelings and needs are invited to be seen — even if you’re not sure yet what they are.

I work relationally, which means I will help you explore what brings you to counselling at this point in your life and what is important to you. Our work together may allow you to develop more awareness of yourself, your patterns and your story so far, ultimately allowing you more freedom in your ability to choose. My aim is to help you to lead a more fulfilling life. I will also be curious about your social, economic and cultural situation, as I am mindful of the stresses and challenges of living in the modern world. I work with adults, aged over 18 and I work both face to face and online.

If you are having unwelcome thoughts, confused or feeling a lack of connection to yourself , others and life, then this can be an opportunity to be heard, without judgement in a safe, confidential space. When people have the chance to unravel what is getting in the way of thinking or feeling well, they can often re-evaluate their lives positively. I believe helping people to feel more understanding and in control of their reactions and interactions is a good starting point, with the possibility of looking at early conditioning that is getting in the way. I offer a free online introductory session of 45 minutes for you.

I have over 23 years of experience working in the NHS, specialising in child and adolescent mental health. This has allowed me to gain extensive experience in working with children, adolescents, young adults, siblings and parents to overcome a wide range of psychological, emotional and behavioural difficulties. I also have a very experienced Family Therapist working alongside me, who is able to work with family and relational difficulties, and three other Clinical Psychologists with a huge amount of experience working alongside me, so we are able to help with most difficulties.

I love helping people to feel confident in their life. Many people who come to me look like they’re coping, but inside feel anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, Some are living with grief, trauma, anxiety or the long-term impact of difficult childhood experiences. Others feel lost in relationships or unsure of themselves. They want a calm, safe space to talk openly, feel understood, and make sense of their experiences. Together we work gently towards feeling safer in yourself, easing anxiety, processing the past, and find new direction. I look forward to helping you.
