I support people navigating change, uncertainty, and emotional difficulty. Many experience anxiety, depression, grief, or a sense of overwhelm that makes life feel heavier than usual. Some want clarity, others simply want to feel better. I offer a safe, non judgemental space to explore what they’re going through, understand their feelings, and develop tools to cope, heal, and move forward with more confidence and hope.

My work is undertaken within a spiritual framework. I am able to offer a safe place where you can be heard, thus enabling you to look at issues, feelings and emotions. I will give you the support and clarity you require to empower you to make the changes in your life you feel you’d like to make. I am able to work in a creative way this can often help when you feel that word are just not enough to express what you are feeling. I am able to work not only with the problem on top but also with any underlying problem or pattern of behavior you may wish to change.

Have you been struggling lately? Maybe for a while? You are not alone. So many people have had difficult experiences, life circumstances and ill health that can throw them off balance. This can make the day to day aspects of life challenging. Anxiety, panic, flashbacks, low mood and difficulties sleeping, can all quickly spiral and sometimes, even with the support of others, it's not enough. Perhaps you have always found life difficult, particularly if you have a disability or are neurodiverse. Whatever your challenge, counselling can help.

Hello, I'm Rachael. I provide a safe, secure place, where you will be able to talk about your thoughts and feelings in confidence, without the fear of being judged. I know the thought of having counselling can be daunting, but I will help you to feel comfortable and relaxed. All my clients and their issues are extremely important to me, so there is no such thing as a client or an issue being ‘unimportant,’ or a problem being too ‘minor’. The sessions are all about you...

You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from yourself, struggling with food, emotions, grief, or the impact of past experiences. You might feel anxious, low, or unsure how to express what’s going on inside. You don’t need to have everything figured out — just a willingness to explore in a safe, supportive space. I work with adults, children, and young people seeking understanding, healing, and a way forward at their own pace, and I warmly welcome neurodivergent clients.

You are welcome here just as you are, however dark, difficult or unclear things seem to be; however lost, sad, confused, anxious or vulnerable you might feel. I believe that therapy can offer hope when it feels like there is precious little of it. However, 'healing' might not involve a cure, but rather a coming to terms with our lives, which may be painful; a grieving, and an imaginative approach to what the symptoms of our distress might be pointing to. ...maybe there is wisdom and gold in the tears and grief. ...maybe we could gently make space for the parts of us that we struggle with and reject

My name is Naomi, and I offer warm, reflective counselling for adults navigating grief, loss, burnout, life transitions and workplace stress. I came to counselling through my own significant life transitions, and after more than 20 years working in professional environments — including a decade supporting staff through change and welfare concerns. That background shapes everything about how I work. I understand what it feels like to hold it all together on the outside while struggling underneath, and I bring both professional experience and genuine personal empathy to the room.

Counselling can be life changing because having space to talk about how you feel is never a waste of time - but feeling anxious, depressed or unhappy is! Maybe you want to talk to someone but feel unable to share with family or friends? Perhaps you are neurodiverse or suspect you might be and would like to know how to manage your symptoms? Or maybe you just want to make sense of the feelings you are experiencing. You talk, I listen and together we find a new way of being.

Reaching out can be hard. Are you feeling overwhelmed? struggling to cope with your situation? your emotions? your experiences? If your trust has been damaged, talking to someone who will take time to understand you can be a huge relief. You may gain insight into the roots of your difficulties and find qualities in yourself that have never had a chance to develop. The aim is to help you live a more rewarding life.

So whatever it is that brings you to therapy, I hope we will build a trusting relationship where you feel free to explore things openly together. I am pleased to offer walking and nature therapy - this is a usual psychotherapy session but outdoors in a natural setting.

FAQ - About Therapy for Seniors
Is one ever too old for mental health therapy?
Individuals of all ages can benefit from mental health therapy. Indeed, older adults in particular may benefit from the social and psychological support a therapist can provide; the topics that older adults address in therapy may simply differ from those of younger clients. Seniors should seek out a therapist who has experience working with older individuals and who is well-versed in addressing common concerns among elderly individuals, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, and physical mobility challenges.

How is counselling for elderly different from counselling for other age groups?
In general, counselling offers an opportunity for clients to process difficult life events and develop coping skills they can use outside of the therapy session. Therapists who specialise in working with elderly clients generally have the same framework but may place a special emphasis on specific topics, such as caregiver relationships and reducing loneliness. They may be specially equipped to deal with certain physical conditions or facilitate discussion surrounding end-of-life topics. Counselling for the elderly may also place a greater emphasis on social work-type topics to ensure that geriatric clients have access to necessary resources, such as food, a safe home environment, and healthcare.

How can therapy improve the quality of life of aging individuals?
Therapy for aging adults can greatly improve quality of life by providing an opportunity for them to process difficult emotions related to end-of-life, navigate relational or caregiver challenges, and develop coping skills for common mental health conditions, like anxiety or depression. Subsequent reductions in negative emotions and mental health disorder symptoms can make day-to-day living much more manageable for aging adults and those that care for them. The ongoing relationship with a trusted therapist can also help seniors combat loneliness and provide a sense of structure for their routine.

What are the qualities to look for in therapists who see seniors?
Seniors counsellors, like mental health counselors in general, should be kind, empathetic, skilled at listening, and knowledgeable about their particular area of expertise. Counsellors specialising in working with the senior population should be very familiar with the aging process in general and the common conditions that the elderly can face, such as dementia, depression, loneliness, and/or physical illness. Many senior counsellors are also well-equipped to help caregivers and families navigate the aging process of their loved ones, and they may draw on Interpersonal Therapy to help facilitate improved interactions between seniors and those that care for them.
