When you come to me for support, I listen with empathy, sensitivity, and without judgment. I am committed to understanding your unique story, and I warmly welcome you as you are. I am especially interested in how our early experiences shape who we become and continue to affect us throughout our lives. Having spent many years working with young people who have experienced trauma, I bring a deep awareness of how those early challenges can echo into adulthood. I have also valued the opportunity to support individuals affected by domestic abuse, helping them find strength, healing, and hope and currently work with West Kent Mind.

As a woman, do you put other people's needs above your own and find it difficult to say no? Maybe it's hard to say how you really feel or to ask for what you need? Do you find being nice all the time and avoiding upsetting anyone could be taking it’s toll, especially when you already feel stressed and overwhelmed by the many roles and relationships in your life? I wonder what life would look like if you felt calmer and more confident in yourself? How would it change your personal relationships and your life in general? What would it feel like to be able to voice what it is you want? It's certainly challenging being a woman today.

Have you reached a point in life where you feel invisible, or unsure of your place in the world? Perhaps your children have grown up, your career has shifted, or relationships have changed, leaving you questioning your purpose and where you fit in now.
Do you have older relatives who you are responsible for, or has someone you love died and you're struggling with grief?
If so, you’re not alone – and you don’t need to navigate this chapter by yourself.

I work with people who want to understand themselves more deeply, not only to reduce anxiety or low mood, but to make sense of who they are, their relationships, and how they want to live.
Often, this includes people who are already quite reflective, but find that thinking alone hasn’t led to the clarity or change they’re looking for. There may be a sense of feeling stuck, unsettled, or unsure of direction, even when things appear to be functioning on the surface.

I offer psychodynamic therapy for people who are carrying the weight of trauma, particularly complex relational trauma and sexual trauma. There are experiences that don't just live in the memory, but live in the body, in relationships, and in parts of you that feel 'too much' or 'not enough'.
I also work with generalised issues such as stress, anxiety, depression. The way I work is gentle, warm and compassionate. Together, we can create a space that feels safe and trustworthy to really explore you as a person, and to find ways of empowering you to explore what feels more aligned to who you really are.

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realised.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
