Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, and so therapy offers a light of clarity and calm —a place to be fully seen and heard. I specialise in Internal Family Systems (IFS), having trained to Level 2, which offers you a reflective way to understand yourself better with compassion, creativity, and courage. Sessions help you heal from painful life events, accept things that cannot be changed, and reduce stress & anxiety, boosting your mood and energy levels. Together, we can explore your complex inner system and journey toward more acceptance, connection and confidence.

Website: rhodascantleburycounselling.co.uk Counselling gives you your own time and space to consider what is going on, who you are and who you want to be. The possibility of time and space might feel important because you're currently experiencing something where your own resources no longer feel sufficient to cope. Perhaps you see that you're responding to situations with more anxiety, anger or distress than feels entirely manageable, or it may be that you're feeling very little and have a sense of being out of touch with yourself or others. I'm able to support you in several ways:

Hello. I support adults and young people (16+) with overwhelming anxiety. Anxiety can often be caused by damaging levels of stress, relationship issues, family conflict, bereavement, significant life changes, low self-esteem, feelings of being stuck, shame and anger. My work with young people additionally supports anxiety around exams, fear of failure, low motivation and relationships. Therapy is a collaborative approach. My approach helps you find the root causes of the disconnect in your life and enables change. We can't alter our past but we can change the influence it has on us.

I work as a Complex Trauma/Childhood Abuse & Relationship Therapist, supporting individuals/couples who are "stuck", experiencing issues of high anxiety; anger; stress and distress around a life events, especially if you have a learning disability or autism. Therapy with me is about managing and reducing the impact. If it is not dealt with sooner, it can trigger hidden deeper issues related to past events related to unspeakable trauma, childhood abuse or dissociation (a sense of detachment from your former self), or even suicidal thoughts, identity issues "Who am I?" Restoring a sense of calm and balance in life stops this chaos.

Welcome to my practice. You may have arrived here through a stressful and painful journey. Maybe your life feels constricted, confined to the 'outside' looking into 'normality'. Maybe spaces around you - physical, social and cultural surroundings, family, work, education - seem unwelcoming or hostile. Clients contact me for many reasons: anxiety/stress with physical symptoms, past adverse experiences, rape, abuse, anger, loneliness, disturbing dreams or intruding images, life threatening or chronic health conditions, life-long disabilities, life crisis.

Seeking out support can be challenging at the best of times, especially if you don’t know where to start. My hope is to make it as easy as possible to find out if I'm the right person to help you. I offer a free consultation call with all enquiries, so reach out by email and we’ll go from there. I truly believe the therapeutic journey is one that we create together and should be tailored to you as an individual. Whether you need short-term focused therapy to help with a current problem, long-term therapy to support unpacking a series of events in your life, or you don’t even quite know yet, it is all valid and I’m happy to discuss.

Sometimes our lives are interrupted by events, changing circumstances and personal challenges. Having a trusting and non-judgemental relationship with a caring professional, can enable you to work through such difficult times and move forward. We can work together to explore your current situation in a safe, non-directive and confidential way. This will give you the opportunity to reflect, question, process, allow for change, or whatever you feel is necessary at this time. If what you need is someone to listen unconditionally and respectfully, as you find your way on your journey, then we can work together.

Although we all face ups and downs throughout life, there are transitional phases which can present challenges to any of us. Be that, teenage years and into adulthood, or physical and emotional changes experienced by women each month, peri/post-natal and menopause. You may be struggling with an undiagnosed disorder or have been diagnosed, finding it difficult to come to terms with, and wondering what this means for you going forward. I also work with older adults who are transitioning into the latter part of their life and the challenges this can bring. These transitions can produce feelings of anxiety, depression and feeling stuck.
