Whether they are struggling with friendships or school; adjusting to family changes; coping with bereavement; feeling more anxious – extra support can make a big difference.
I tailor sessions to your child using play-based therapy, art and mindfulness, helping them express feelings in ways that feel natural when emotions are overwhelming or hard to verbalise. I build a trusting relationship where children feel safe to explore what is going on. I also work as a school counsellor in primary schools across Hampshire.

Difficult feelings such as unhappiness, loss, anxiety, anger, shame, guilt and low self-esteem can impact heavily on our well-being.
My foundation is Psychodynamic but I adopt an integrative approach, drawing from different models to provide a tailored approach to suit your needs. The changes are long lasting, as we would explore the root causes of your struggles and aim to work through them, rather than just trying to manage the resulting symptoms or 'paper over the cracks'.

Many people I work with describe a feeling of living behind a mask, smiling, coping, keeping up appearances, while privately battling anxiety, low mood, grief, or a sense of disconnection.
Counselling can be a game-changer. Here’s how it helps: Breaks the worry loop - I can help you spot unhelpful thought patterns and learn how to reframe them. Builds coping tools - learn techniques that give you more control when anxiety hits. Boosts confidence - As you build skills and gain insight, you feel more equipped to face challenges.

I work with a wide range of issues, areas of specialty include bereavement, trauma and adoption.
It takes courage to step into counselling – it may be a return to counselling or perhaps you have exhausted all your efforts to overcome whatever challenges you are up against and are holding the hope that counselling may offer you the way through. Perhaps you have felt a pressure to keep going or pretended to others that all is well, when deep within you, there is a knowing that you no longer feel able to go on as you have been. Whatever the reasons for being here, I would like to offer a warm welcome to my counselling practice.

I work with a range of issues and my expertise is in anxiety, burnout, bereavement and complicated grief.
Counselling can be in-person in my private garden cabin, online or on the telephone (however that feels right for you). A space to find some meaning, a space to feel heavy without leaning on others, a space to offload and ultimately a space to come back to a more real you.

How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
