Are you adversely affected by negative or unwanted emotions? A large focus in my work is helping my clients to achieve conscious control of an otherwise subconscious process. After 6 - 8 sessions of working with me, you will have much better control of your emotions, therefore a lot of issues that revolve around unwanted emotions will no longer be an issue. If you're interested in DBT, get in touch and I'll show you another approach that gets much better results with far less effort in a significantly shorter timeframe.

Couples rarely come to therapy because of the dishwasher. They come because something has started happening between them that neither fully understands anymore. The same arguments repeat in different forms. One person pursues, the other withdraws. Conversations become scorekeeping, silence, defensiveness, exhaustion. You talk and talk and still leave feeling unheard. Intimacy starts giving way to logistics. Resentment grows quietly underneath ordinary life. Often both people feel alone inside the relationship at the same time.

There are times we all need support when struggling with bereavement, workplace challenges, or difficulties in our personal relationships. Life can feel overwhelming and confusing, and you may find yourself questioning reactions that seem to be damaging your relationships or wellbeing. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings and thoughts through art therapy. You don’t need to be “good at art” or have any previous artistic experience - the materials are simply there to help you express and explore what’s inside. I draw on a range of therapeutic theories to best support your individual needs.

I work with people at a threshold: dating anxiety, new parenthood, midlife shifts, burnout, redundancy, expat life, or quarter-life uncertainty. Most arrive after trying to think their way out, ready for someone both warm and direct. Drawing on Jungian, psychodynamic, somatic, and CBT work built over 11 years of practice, I help you see the patterns beneath the struggle, reconnect with your body's wisdom, and build practical tools, so you leave each session a little more like yourself again.

I draw on classic as well as contemporary psychoanalytic theory together with influences of philosophy and socio-political theories.
Whether you are dealing with a known challenge, know what might be bothering you at the moment, or feeling a certain way and not sure why - considering therapy could be a helpful step. I offer a safe, non-judgmental, socially minded space to support you at looking at your experiences, make sense of them and ultimately, develop better understanding of yourself and expand your capacity for choice and decision making.

I want to help everyone I work with build a life worth living. Whether that’s because life is not what you want it to be due to trauma, specific mental health challenges, you are just wanting to have a place to explore your ways of thinking. Life can throw us one of its many curveballs, it’s okay to be overwhelmed, left feeling confused and stuck because by it as we “did everything how we were meant to.” I hold the belief that everyone is OK and the relationship built between Therapist and Client holds the key to creating change for the better. I want to help give you back your power to control and enjoy your life to its fullest.

Something has to change — you know that. Maybe anxiety has been with you so long it feels like part of who you are. Maybe depression has flattened your world. Maybe you're burned out, in a relationship that's losing its footing, or facing a life change that's knocked you sideways. The adults, couples, and older adults I work with come to me carrying anxiety, depression, stress and burnout, trauma, bereavement, relationship issues, life transitions, self-esteem, career pressures, and men's mental health concerns. I also work with veterans and emergency service workers. Reaching out is the hardest part — and you've already done it.

I've been actively practicing as a Therapist for the last 9 years and have always worked with a variety of people from all ages and backgrounds. The youngest being 8 years and the oldest being 84. Many of these clients have lived in different places all over the country. This experience has meant that I have needed to become a different type of Therapist for each client that I work with to ensure that I am able to best support them. This has also meant that I have worked with people for many different reasons and has given me skills to comfortably meet people where they are and work towards their goals in Therapy.

Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviours. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behaviour is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
