You’re tired of feeling this way—and not fully understanding why. You might look like you’re coping on the outside, but inside you feel anxious, not good enough, or stuck in the same patterns—especially in relationships. Maybe you overthink everything. Maybe you people-please, doubt yourself, or feel like you’re “too much” or “not enough” at the same time. Often, these patterns don’t come out of nowhere. They’re shaped by early experiences—growing up in environments where you were criticised, dismissed, or didn’t feel safe to fully be yourself.

I am a fully qualified, accredited Psychotherapist and counsellor. I work with a range of issues, including anxiety and depression. Being heard and accepted for being who you truly are, can feel incredibly empowering. When this is taken away, our thoughts can trigger unhelpful behaviours, increasing low mood. Which in turn can play havoc with our emotions. When we feel lonely and isolated, overwhelming feelings can flood our thoughts and fears. I can offer you a safe, warm, and confidential space to explore any issues that may contribute towards your anxiety and depression. I am here to listen to you in an non-judgmental way.

I support clients with anxiety, relationship difficulties, trauma, self-esteem, and addiction or recovery.
Sometimes life calls for a place to slow down, speak freely, and feel met without judgement. You may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or emotionally stuck—carrying experiences from earlier in life that continue to shape how you feel, think, or relate to others. You might notice patterns repeating, struggle with anxiety or low mood, or find it difficult to understand or express what you’re feeling. You don’t need all the answers—just a sense that something within you needs space, care, and attention.

I also have twenty years experience of working with alcohol and substance misuse.
Although psychosynthesis is a 'talking therapy', its more than just talking. I work with a number of techniques depending on the client's needs and presenting issues. Most importantly I hold a 'bifocal' view of my clients; I am not only considering what they are presenting, I am also looking for the positive thing that is emerging from their disturbance.

You thought things would feel easier by the time you reached this age. Maybe life wasn't supposed to be this hard. You figured you'd feel more settled, more confident, more in control. But instead, something just feels… off. You're tired. Anxious. Like you're stuck, and no matter what you do, it's hard to move forward. You know you want more from life, you know you're capable of more, but it's hard to explain. You might feel disconnected from yourself or the people around you. Maybe your relationships are struggling, or you just don’t feel like yourself anymore. You're not alone. I'm here for you if you decide to reach out.

My specialisms include addiction, anxiety, depression, couples therapy, self esteem, bereavement, identity and trauma.
I offer counselling and therapeutic coaching. Clients will come to me with a range of problems and often feel some confusion and simply need to talk. In our work we will clarify the problem and see what is most challenging for you at the present time. We will discover where this confusion arises in the body and mind and begin to understand where it began: Perhaps this has been triggered in the past: by an environment, people, a person, upbringing etc. The work we do is compassionate and kind. My purpose is to help you find your way out of the confusion and suffering, so you can find purpose, meaning and peace in your life.

What is the best therapy for addiction?
Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?
Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?
The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
