Feelings of confusion, fear, loss, sadness, anger, despair, anxiety, low self-esteem, frustration can sometimes become overwhelming; as can the complexities of family life, work and relationships.
I believe that no one theory fits for each person, so I work in an Integrative way, carefully using different approaches to suit the individual. The relationship between therapist and client is a very important one, based on trust and mutual respect and how we work can be decided upon together.

Therapy can often involve seeing a professional, responding to questions that will help them figure out what's wrong, and taking another person's advice on how to deal with their difficulties. However, I offer a more humanistic approach to therapy, in which I will support you as you embark on a journey of self-discovery and help you find the solutions you've been looking for. You are, after all, the authority on your own life. I offer online and face to face sessions, equine therapy and walk and talk therapy. www.personcentredtherapy.uk

As an experienced psychotherapist and counsellor for 20 years I specialise in supporting Couples, Individuals and Teenagers.
Through years of experience in individuals for the past 10 years I have expanded my focus to couples helping them navigate their challenges. I prioritise attachment styles and communication, uncovering the underlying family dynamics from their past that more often than not influence their relationships. This can support a good foundation for growth

I'm Emilie and I started Wanderwood Counselling & Psychotherapy as I wanted to work with individuals, couples and groups to explore anything they might want to bring to a non-judgmental and empathetic space.
I also have a particular interest in working with clients who are from a multicultural background or have lived in other countries, including those who may have lived in more than one country in childhood, and exploring the impacts that might have, whether in relation to their identity, sense of belonging or other parts of their experience.

Hi, my name is Danielle Bennett, I'm an individual counsellor, a couple counsellor and sex therapist.
When I first studied relationships, I could not understand that if sex was supposed to be natural and easy why so many couples and individuals had problems. Over time, I've learnt that the complications and life are the elements that make a relationship strain; almost break and sometimes come back together. It's all about balance!

While working for the charity MIND, I managed a team of counsellors working with high risk young people and adults struggling with and experiencing high levels of stress from very busy and demanding workplaces, issues with family, relationships and friendship breakdowns, and life changing decisions.
I offer Clinical Supervision and Counselling. My background is in education, providing support for students from Primary, Secondary, Sixth Form/College, and University. While working with a diverse range of people, I have received specialist training for working with students and adults with Autism, ADHD, Asperger's and challenging behaviour. I have also previously worked in a Specialist Autistic (SRP) unit. I also work with adults and those that have received a late diagnosis to help accept, adjust and make sense of this impact on their lives and that of their family.

I have 25 years experience helping individuals and couples who are feeling stressed, unbalanced, confused, angry, stuck, unhappy, or overwhelmed.
After 25 years helping people change effectively, I now teach what I call The How Of Change. I help people identify their goals & then work closely with them to help them achieve their goals. This may involve teaching them how to communicate effectively with others or it can mean helping them to understand themselves and what they want from life.

I help clients with issues such as suicide ideation, stress, low self-esteem, panic disorder, anxiety, illness, baby loss, relationships, work issues feeling sad and phobias.
It can seem like the hardest thing to do to access counselling, but it can be life changing if you take that first step. You may not be entirely clear on what you want but just have a feeling that things don't feel right and you have decided that you want to understand what, why and how to refocus and live the life you feel is best for you. Or perhaps you are very aware of a struggle with difficulties, which may already be formally diagnosed by another professional, and you want to regain some control instead of feeling that these issues take over. I can support people in achieving their goals wherever they are in their journey.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
