Transpersonal Counselling in Taunton
My ideal client may have experienced trauma — something that touches most of us in different ways. I believe we learn and grow not only from our successes but also from our pain. Many clients come to me feeling the weight of post-traumatic stress; together, we work toward post-traumatic growth. While trauma is a common thread, I work with a wide range of presenting issues. My approach is to focus on the person, not just the problem, creating space for understanding, healing, and change.

Choosing to reach out for support can feel daunting, and I understand the courage it takes to take that first step. Life can leave us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, isolated, or weighed down by experiences that are difficult to process alone. Whatever has brought you here, you don't have to face it on your own.
I believe everyone deserves to be met with kindness, compassion, and curiosity. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to support you in developing a deeper understanding of yourself and finding your own way forward.

Hello fellow travellers, my name is Jacqui.
I want this to reach people who are travelling through life feeling lost and alone. People who are sick and tired of their same old story that no longer serves them. People who keep trying to convince themselves that if they just erase the old story, or write a different one with new characters, then hopefully the old story will fade away. But instead, those old, rickety pages are far too comfortable and familiar, and before you know it you find yourself travelling through them again, heading toward the same ending.

If you’re exhausted by shallow self-help, fake positivity, and constant pressure to be more productive, you’re not alone.
Another podcast. Another morning routine. Another person online claiming they’ve mastered life while quietly falling apart behind the scenes.
Meanwhile, you may still feel anxious, disconnected, stuck, lonely, overwhelmed, or unlike yourself underneath it all.
I’m not especially interested in pretending life is simple or reducing people to diagnoses, labels, or productivity problems to solve.

My clients look like they’re coping. They appear capable and responsible, sometimes highly successful, yet privately they are often anxious, disconnected, self-critical or exhausted. Some carry complex trauma or PTSD; some deep sorrow, grief and others just know something doesn’t feel right. Many have learned to be the strong one. They don’t just want symptom relief — they want to understand their patterns, feel calmer, build steadier relationships and feel at home in who they truly are. They want the opportunity of a therapeutic relationship that will help them heal from their emotional wounds and unburden themselves.

I’m Karen Janas, an integrative counsellor working with adults, couples, and young people experiencing a wide range of emotional and relational difficulties. You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low, or exhausted, perhaps holding everything together for others while inside you feel unheard or stuck in patterns you don’t fully understand. You might be living with low mood or depression, navigating burnout, grief, menopause, or struggling with difficult relationships, including your relationship with food or with yourself. Life may feel more about surviving than living, and you’re tired of carrying it all alone.

Transpersonal Counsellors
How does transpersonal therapy work?
Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualisation, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.
How long does transpersonal therapy last?
Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.
Is transpersonal therapy effective?
Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilise the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.
What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?
There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioural therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
