Psychosis Counselling in Taunton
My ideal client is one of complexity; I plan on to enrol onto a Doctorate becoming a counselling psychologist. I am a qualified counsellor and my knowledge base started 15 years ago when I fell ill. I have had an eventful life, including heart problems, strokes and many other issues. Through therapies, self help and determination I am happy with my life and I would love to share my knowledge. I have specialised in complex bereavement over the past 6 years seeing clients face to face and supporting them through the hard times. There is a need for more LGBT counsellors that understand and help.

As a psychologist, I understand that life can bring many and varied struggles. It can be difficult to find solutions when all we are trying to do is get through the day. We may worry that our problems are either too great, or too small, and so we silently keep on pushing through without giving ourselves the grace to seek expert help. We may find it challenging to reach out, simply believing we should be able to cope.
This is one of the reasons I became a psychologist, to support those who maybe silently struggling: To offer that protected, compassionate space where you can feel heard and validated.

I work with adults struggling with their mental health or those who are simply looking to learn more about themselves to better enhance their well being. Sometimes seeking therapy is a response to a specific life event or trigger, for others the reasons for reaching out may still feel unclear. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where we can make sense of what’s happening, understand the patterns behind it, and work towards meaningful change.
I offer professional support, warmth, and understanding. Whether you’re looking to process or work on something specific or simply just need someone to listen, I can help.

In my work as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, I help adults who are experiencing considerable difficulties with their thoughts and feelings about themselves and in their relationships with others - particularly with partners, family and at work. These difficulties are often associated with a variety of psychological problems and negatively affect mental health, sometimes severely. Persistent poor mental health and relationship issues are often rooted in problems with caregiving experienced as an infant, child and teenager.

Hi, I'm Julie, and I am passionate about working with people who have experienced abuse or trauma, whether it be sexual, physical or emotional. When we experience trauma we lose part of who we truly are because of the after effects, such as anxiety, depression, panic attacks, nervous system disregulation, flashbacks and dissociation (when we feel distanced from our emotions or ‘spaced out’, as if we’re living on autopilot). I love helping people rediscover who they really are by creating an environment in which they feel safe and completely accepted. I don't analyse you but with careful listening will know what we need to work on.

Our names are Abbie and El. We offer online CBT therapy, allowing you to access support from a place that feels comfortable and convenient to you. Working remotely means therapy can fit around your life wherever you are based.
Our work is flexible and inclusive. We welcome neurodivergent experiences (such as ADHD and ASD) and adapt our approach to suit how you think, process and communicate. Therapy with us is not about forcing you into a model- it's about finding what genuinely works for you. We take a collaborative, respectful and grounded approach to therapy. This means working alongside you rather than telling you what to do.

Newid pronounced "Nowed" is Welsh for change. I chose this name not only to reflect my heritage but also to reflect that change is the only constant in life. We all travel with it, yet all our experiences can be profoundly different. I believe that counselling is a collaborative process in which we work together on what you want to change or explore in a safe non-judgemental environment. I offer an integrative approach where we work side-by-side to understand your past and help you discover new ways of coping and moving forward. I recognise that courage is not fearless and making the 1st step can be challenging in it's self.

What’s the most effective treatment for psychosis?
The most effective treatment for psychosis is coordinated specialty care. In this model, a team of professionals works with a patient to address all aspects of the underlying disorder. This approach incorporates individual or group therapy, employment and education support, family support and education, medication management (which often involves low doses of antipsychotics), and case management to facilitate problem-solving as needed.
When should people seek treatment for psychosis?
People should seek immediate treatment at the earliest indication of psychosis. Symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized or blocked speech, and agitated body movements. Early signs that a person may be developing a disorder that will lead to psychosis include suspiciousness of others, memory problems and distractibility, an inability to think clearly, rapid or nonsensical speech, withdrawal from friends or family, aggression toward others, and sensitivity to bright lights or noises.
What if psychosis is left untreated?
Without treatment, psychosis can have significant repercussions, including injuries, job loss, homelessness, financial or legal trouble, ruptured relationships, and suffering for the person and their family. While early treatment for psychosis often yields the best results, there is no point past which it becomes useless to seek treatment. At any point, treatment can make a difference.
How do I get someone else to seek treatment for psychosis?
It’s extremely difficult to watch a loved one suffer from hallucinations, delusions, and other elements of psychosis—sometimes exacerbated by their fears of treatment. Have a conversation with them in a quiet space and maintain a calm, supportive tone. Share your concerns about behaviors you’ve observed, suggest treatment, and explain the potential benefits. Listen carefully to their responses. The person may not be ready after one conversation, but with time, they may come around.
