I specialise in working with people experiencing anxiety and depression ; believing that all instances of depression (or anxiety) are uniquely different and are experienced by people in many different ways.
I work in a person-centred manner which means that I value building a positive relationship with clients; working to create a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment. This means that I want you to feel able to talk and express yourself about anything that may be troubling you. We talk about whatever you chose, and you can do so without fear of judgement. This enables you to become more comfortable with things as you discuss your thoughts freely, giving you an opportunity to consider things from different perspectives and over time building your confidence to explore different options and possibilities that are open to you.

Asking for help is not easy but making that first step can feel really positive. I am an experienced BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and work to help people (including children and young people) who are experiencing a range of issues including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, OCD, depression , as well as low self-esteem and other difficulties. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy focuses on the links between thoughts, feelings and behaviours, especially the way that unhelpful thoughts lead to and maintain distressing feelings and behaviours that can be a problem for some people and their families.

A therapist with a passion for helping adults build self-worth to reduce symptoms of Anxiety and Depression . Self-worth is an important part of our mental health, because lacking self-worth means that we never feel good enough, despite our best efforts. You may be someone that worries about what others think about you, you may fear making mistakes, put pressure on yourself to please others, doubt yourself a lot of the time and you may hide parts of yourself away from the world. The thoughts and behaviours linked to having low self-worth can leave us feeling exhausted, anxious, angry or depressed .

If you (or your child) are seeking support to overcome some challenges in your life, counselling is a great way to explore your difficulties in a safe and non-judgmental space. A key part of the counselling process is the therapeutic relationship and I believe that due to my age this allows me to support you in greater ways. I empathise and understand the anxieties and pressures put on you by school/exams/university, the impact that growing up with social media and having an online persona can have on your self-esteem, how delicate family/friend relationships can be and the difficulties they can put onto you.

I enjoy working with clients, building a collaborative therapeutic relationship which supports a mutual understanding of their presenting difficulties. My role also helps to increase the client knowledge of evidence-based CBT strategies or EMDR to support beneficial change and reaching the clients identified goals. I draw upon my experiences of working as a cognitive behavioural therapist and mental health nurse, providing a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental environment where clients can talk openly and access the support they are seeking.

I help people to overcome their past, so that they can embrace their future. So often, the things we are struggling with in life, can be linked back to our early life experiences or difficult life events, which can have a huge impact on how we feel about ourselves, our relationships with others and our overall well being. My goal is to help my clients understand and make sense of their past experiences and explore how their current difficulties may fit into this. I help them to learn new skills and break old patterns so that they can reclaim the life that they want.

Making sense of life can be challenging at times. We might find ourselves contemplating if we are causing ourselves unnecessary unhappiness, or if this is just the way things are? Or, wondering if I should just keep sticking at 'it', or is it time for things to change? We might question if our feelings are important? (They might overwhelm us!) Or should I just listen to my thoughts instead? Should we try to forget about the past, or is it helpful to understand it? Might we be living our lives in 'survival mode' when we could be 'thriving' instead?

I work with people who are struggling with: trauma/PTSD, depression , stress/anxiety disorders such as OCD, panic, relationship difficulties and also grief.
I'm Nerys, a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, wanting to invite you to book an initial online therapy session. In our first session we can get an idea of what your problems are, what you'd like to change and how many sessions it will likely take until you start feeling better. Together, we can work on creating the version of you that you would like to be. Imagine what you could accomplish with your new improved outlook. When we start, it's like emptying puzzle pieces onto a table. We start putting you back together to see the bigger picture, and how you can continue the work yourself.

My specialist area is recurrent anxiety, depression , past and recent trauma related to abuse, relationship problems, self-harm and self-esteem.
My clients come to me from all walks of life and have experienced trauma recently or in the past. This has resulted in my clients suffering from intense anxiety and fears and/or severe depression as well as relationship difficulties. My clients can feel stuck, vulnerable and helpless, which has such a disabling impact on their lives. I have the ability to initiate and maintain a confidential therapeutic relationship, where my clients feel safe, experience hope and a reduction of their psychological symptoms. My clients leave therapy feeling empowered and able to manage life's stresses. I have clinics in Chester, Heswall and Mold.

I work with clients experiencing depression , anxiety, grief and loss, bereavement, negative automatic thoughts, low self-esteem, low self-worth and confidence.
Is this you? Is your mind clouded all the time, have you got 200 things running through your head, do you struggle to concentrate, find it hard to make decisions?   Do you doubt yourself lots, low-confidence, negative thoughts, think more of others than yourself?   Are you living in the past, grieving loved ones, not dealing with your problems, involved in toxic relationships?   Is it time to stop and think about your mental health and wellbeing?

We all experience difficult times in our lives, suffering anxiety, depression , stress, anger, relationship issues, grief, bereavement, physical illness, emotional/physical abuse, low mood, and low motivation, to name just a few of the reasons people come to therapy. At times we will feel like we don’t want to ‘burden’ people with how we feel so we try to push through and carry on, we try to pretend all is ok, we try and cope by putting on a smile and a brave face, often we simply find we are unable to move forward and feel stuck.

I offer therapy for the following difficulties: depression , generalised anxiety disorder, OCD, PTSD, BDD, social phobia, panic disorder, specific phobias and health anxiety.
Hi, I’m Hannah. I have worked in mental health services for over 18 years. I enjoy working with clients to help them understand the development and maintenance of their current difficulties, so that it is possible to make meaningful changes using evidence based CBT strategies or EMDR. I incorporate mindfulness and compassionate approaches into my clinical work. I aim to provide a compassionate, non judgmental, therapeutic environment to clients and understand how difficult it can be to reach out for support. I will do my best to help you feel comfortable and at ease whilst helping you to achieve your goals.

Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
