Couples Counselling in Swindon
While working for the charity MIND, I managed a team of counsellors working with high risk young people and adults struggling with and experiencing high levels of stress from very busy and demanding workplaces, issues with family, relationships and friendship breakdowns, and life changing decisions.
I offer Clinical Supervision and Counselling. My background is in education, providing support for students from Primary, Secondary, Sixth Form/College, and University. While working with a diverse range of people, I have received specialist training for working with students and adults with Autism, ADHD, Asperger's and challenging behaviour. I have also previously worked in a Specialist Autistic (SRP) unit. I also work with adults and those that have received a late diagnosis to help accept, adjust and make sense of this impact on their lives and that of their family.

I work purely as an Online Therapist for which I am fully qualified and trained to do. This has many benefits, not only as it doesn't mean travelling but we also have the options of working in different ways, such as video, email, audio or instant messaging. Sometimes it can reduce anxieties as you can be in a space that feels comfortable for you. I have a particular interest in working with MEN in therapy as I am aware how difficult it can be for a man to seek therapy and talk about their emotions and experiences. My aim is to provide that safe space in which all clients can explore their feelings and emotions.

I amalso highly trained, I have a Masters degree in Counselling and I specialise in bereavement, anxiety, relationships and trauma.
There are no "ideal" clients - there are only people and people have throughts and feelings that can sometimes be too much to handle by themselves. At these times I believe that reaching out and speaking to someone who is trained to listen and not judge, someone who is empathetic and wants to help, can be the catalyst for change in a person's life. You might be a person who has struggled to be understood, who needs to process your thoughts and feelings with a trained and experienced counsellor in order to move past this period of confusion and distress.

I work with clients over 12, their parents, and you if you are facing difficulties with relationships.
Therapy can provide a place of honesty for all the battles in our heads, from medical diagnoses, past trauma, sexual desire, issues of gender, to everyday compulsive/negative thinking. Understanding our experience in a rapidly changing environment, whilst surrounded by limitless information that offers such contradictory explanations can leave us feeling overwhelmed. Finding, and maintaining, personal meaning amongst so much uncertainty is a struggle. You needn't face it alone. Therapy reduces anxiety and deepens our understanding. Together we strive to create personal harmony between your internal needs and those external demands.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
