As a relationship counsellor, I encourage open communication channels where we explore 'hotspots' presenting conflict and shape the interactions that have formed habitual ways of being.
Life can sometimes becomes overwhelming, what you thought you had a handle on can suddenly feel incredibly unbearable. Conflicting emotions or unhealthy behaviours can arise from self-expectations, family or peer pressure and the never ending demands of a 24/7 world. Whatever your age, background, race or culture, being heard and talking freely in a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space can be incredibly empowering in understanding who you are and making sense of the thoughts and feelings that arise. As an integrative counsellor, I am flexible in working with the best possible approach to achieve the best outcome for you.

I draw mainly on: Psychodynamic therapy to understand recurring patterns and relationships; CBT for practical strategies; Existential–relational therapy (Yalom-informed) to explore agency, uncertainty, and loss.
Get help for Anxiety, Depression, Trauma (PTSD), and Eating Disorders. Extensive experience of working with neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD and autism. Support with navigating life with chronic illness and grief. I’m a Counselling Psychologist working in Cambridge. My style is direct, honest, and curious. Together with my clients, I think about what keeps them stuck and how to achieve a better quality of life. I see therapy as a process where we do meaningful (sometimes uncomfortable) work that leads to change.

I would aim to develop a trusting non judgemental relationship with my clients so that they could feel able to really explore the issues that have brought them to counselling.
I offer a Counselling service to individuals, young people and families who may be facing personal difficulties and challenges. We all experience painful events and losses at various times in our lives and Counselling creates a safe containing space for clients to explore and process their emotions on a range if issues that may be impacting on them negatively. This can help clients to identify their triggers which may be responsible for creating the emotional and or physical distress. It also helps develop some strategies for clients to have at their disposal to manage better the impacts of the distress being experienced.

Couples Counselling Counsellors
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
