My core approach to counselling is Psychodynamic which means I pay attention to unconscious feelings and how past experiences may be influencing your present day to day life.
I am a BACP Accredited counsellor and psychotherapist with experience working with adults. I offer a warm, empathic, non judgemental and confidential space for you to talk freely of your concerns and explore the nature of the difficulties you are experiencing. My aim is to work alongside you to help you gain a deeper understanding in yourself encouraging the healing process. In my work with couples I introduce elements of Emotionally Focused Therapy, a structured approach based on attachment theory, helping couples to understand and respond to each other's needs effectively. I practice in Sutton SM2

I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor, registered with the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).
Sometimes it is hard to know where to turn when life seems overwhelming. It can be hard to allow yourself the space and time to process how you are feeling and to develop an understanding and acceptance of yourself. Working together we will explore your current circumstances but may also look back at your earlier life. This can be fruitful in helping you to get to know yourself. For example, ways of relating to others can sometimes be linked to previous experiences and relationships. This knowledge can lead to new perspectives and different ways of relating that feel more authentic or appropriate to who you are now.

As an integrative therapist, I work with person-centred and psychodynamic modalities.
My practice is rooted in a deep and genuine interest to help people live more fulfilled lives that they feel in control of. I provide a safe and non-judgmental space where you can freely process whatever life is presenting for you. No problem is ever too big or too small; we just need the will to overcome it. Within everyone sits a strength to cope with life's challenges, and create change in their life. Together, we can explore what is preventing you from accessing that strength, develop the tools to cope in order to live a more fulfilled life, eventually returning to your authentic self.

The type of counselling I provide is grounded in Psychodynamic roots, which means we not only explore what has initially brought you to counselling, but also your past history.
There may be times in life where you feel that you are on your own, and you put a brave face on because you don't want to burden others for fear that they won't understand what you're going through. As a Therapist I would like to provide the safe space for you to explore these feelings. Hello, my name is Samantha Parsons and I am a qualified experienced Counsellor practising in the Sutton & Coulsdon areas of Surrey. As a counsellor I aim to provide a warm, empathic, non-judgmental, safe space to listen, reflect and provide emotional support. I offer an external relationship away from distractions to focus on you.

The psychodynamic approach is based on the idea that earlier life experiences influence our current relationships.
If you have found my page you maybe want to learn more about yourself, you maybe experiencing distress in parts of your life or you may find yourself in the same difficult relationships or engaging in the same unwanted behaviours. Whatever your difficulties may be there is a part of you that is reaching out for help and apart of you that believes that things can be better. I would very much welcome the opportunity to work with you to realise whatever better might be for you. I can offer an introductory call or an initial consultation/s. This is when we'll have the opportunity to meet, to talk about what brings you to psychotherapy.

I am a BA (Hons) qualified Integrative counsellor, although I do favour the Psychodynamic approach.
I have helped many clients recover from anxiety disorders, depression and self-esteem issues. I have helped clients work on relationship issues so that they are able to live in harmony with others. Most of the issues faced derive from fear, guilt, shame, envy etc. We will work together with your presenting issues and we will also journey into your past to see if we can get to the root of why you feel the way you do and together we will work through any triggers so that your life becomes more manageable. There is nothing more enlightening than self discovery and becoming a more confident version of yourself is extremely empowering.

I use a psychodynamic approach to counselling, believing that childhood and past experiences can have an influence on present patterns in relationships and decision making.
Having a difficult time? Getting better starts with a single conversation. I offer a non-judgemental space in which my clients can work through painful or difficult experiences with warmth and kindness. I aim to provide a secure base in which it is possible to slowly build trust in an on-going therapeutic relationship, empowering the individual to develop the internal resources to cope with the many challenges that life brings. I will listen carefully to whatever my client needs to talk about, without fear of judgment and explore together any difficulties. Please visit my website at jensummerfield.uk for more information.

Sometimes, our coping strategies, and the ways we relate to others, may become problematic. For instance, you may feel overwhelmed by grief, illness or painful events. Relationships may break down. You may feel anxious or depressed. Psychodynamic psychotherapy offers the opportunity to begin to make sense of what underlies your difficulties, come to terms with your losses and discover new perspectives. I strongly believe that an individual needs to arrive at their own understanding of their situation and of what troubles them. This deeper understanding helps you to find a way forward, and to start to feel better.

Hi and Welcome, Bronwyn here. I will sit next to you on the darkest night leaning against the door of your house. The key you know is around here somewhere but you can’t find it in the dark. You will talk and talk and talk and I will listen and maybe also talk a little until slowly it begins to get lighter. Was it all the talking and sitting together that chased the dark away or would the light have come anyway? Who knows. You unclench your hand and can now see the key that has been there this whole time. We hug goodbye, you stand and turn the key in the lock and step into your home.

My aim is to provide you with a safe, encouraging space to be yourself, in order to work through what you wish to focus on. This may be relationship difficulties, feelings of low self-worth, anxiety, depression or low mood, or a general feeling that you’re stuck and not quite sure why. It can sometimes be hard to justify taking this time for yourself, which ironically, might be a clue that you tend to put others first, neglecting your own needs yet often feeling resentful. You may feel unsure about sharing details of yourself with a “stranger”, but this might be a sign that you often feel judged or are afraid of other’s judgement.

Psychodynamic Counsellors
Psychodynamic therapy, also known as insight-oriented therapy, evolved from Freudian psychoanalysis. Like adherents of psychoanalysis, psychodynamic therapists believe that bringing the unconscious into conscious awareness promotes insight and resolves conflict. But psychodynamic therapy is briefer and less intensive than psychoanalysis and also focuses on the relationship between the therapist and the client, as a way to learn about how the client relates to everyone in their life.
