Many of the people I work with are used to holding a great deal together in their lives - within relationships, family, or work - yet something doesn’t feel right. They may experience anxiety that doesn’t settle, anger or overwhelm, or find themselves navigating unhealthy relationship patterns, betrayal, or breakdown. Some understand the impact of earlier experiences; others simply feel something is off. Often, there is a sense of having lost touch with themselves, or of not being enough. I help individuals make sense of these experiences and move forward with greater clarity, stability, and a stronger sense of self.

My path to becoming a psychotherapist and Jungian analyst has not been a straight line but a winding, often painful journey through the depths of my own suffering. Before I ever sat with another person in the therapist’s chair, I spent years confronting my struggles with mental illness—particularly addiction and eating disorders. These experiences weren’t just difficult chapters in my life; they were initiations into the world of the psyche, and they have profoundly shaped how I practice, how I listen, and how I hold space for others.

Do your feelings overwhelm you? Is it hard to stay in control? Are you unkind to yourself? I understand how hard it is to ask for help. Untangling a lifetime of feelings and thoughts can be daunting, but with the right support you can identify those limiting patterns and change the beliefs, feelings, and responses holding you back from the life you want and the person you want to be. Choice comes from understanding yourself, then making the right changes. I understand how hard it can be to do that on your own. I will be with you on that journey, supporting and empowering you to move from self-awareness to real, lasting change

I am a qualified integrative counsellor working in private practice and the charitable sector. The human experience is often characterized by moments of joy, excitement, and wonder, but it can also be unpredictable, challenging, and overwhelming. At times, we all need support to navigate the complexities of life and gain a deeper understanding of ourselves—our motivations, behaviours, and reactions to the world and the situations we encounter. I have experience working with a variety of issues and specialise in bereavement, trauma and life transitions.

Anxiety takes over without permission. It steals your sleep, disrupts your appetite, and keeps your mind racing. The more you try to control it, the louder it gets. It isolates you from people you care about and holds you back from moving forward—applying for that job, speaking up, or simply enjoying life. Even surrounded by others, you feel alone, disconnected, and tired of pretending you’re fine. You long to feel safe, calm, and truly at peace within yourself.

I was going to say a few things about me, but that's not why you're here. You're here because you recognise it's time to talk about you. I can help with that. I have worked extensively with clients who experience professional "burn out", relationship issues, bereavement and loss. The list goes on. Having juggled work, family, personal loss, training and much more in recent years, I understand overwhelm. This experience means that I will listen without judgement, empathise and help you find ways to cope, moving on from the unhealthy habits and emotions you're stuck in. We'll work together towards your goals.

You might be someone who feels stuck, held back by a past event, a difficult period in your life, or patterns you can’t seem to shift. Maybe anxiety, overwhelm, intrusive memories, or emotional shutdowns are getting in the way of how you want to live. Perhaps you’re exhausted from holding it all together or frustrated that you “should be over this by now.” What you want is to feel like yourself again: steady, safe, and able to move forward without the past continuing to pull you back.

I guess you're wondering who I can help? Perhaps one of the following descriptions and scenarios fits you: your anxiety and stress levels are so high, you feel like exploding; your self esteem and confidence are so low they're dragging on the ground; you seem always to form the same rotten relationships, or the relationships you have with friends and family feel more like 'Apocalypse Now' than 'Happy days'. Or, perhaps, you have experienced a bereavement and you're struggling to adapt to the new life thrust upon you. If any of these desriptions or scenarios fit you, then I can offer you the support you need to make positive changes.

I focus on helping clients become empowered through self-awareness. Sometimes we need assistance to discover hidden parts of ourselves. We may want guidance to work out the underlying causes of the issues we are struggling with and to understand the meaning we give to our life events. I will assist you in exploring the motives behind behaviours, unhelpful thought patterns, and overwhelming feelings. Who would you be without the thoughts that upset you? Who would you be if you could feel free from the emotions and situations that weigh you down?

Hypnotherapy Counsellors
How does hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy works by using guided hypnosis to help you reach a state of focus and concentration through mental imagery and soothing verbal repetition. The state is somewhat like being absorbed in a book, a film, or your own thoughts. You are not under a therapist’s “control,” but they can help you relax and turn your attention inward to discover the resources to achieve behaviour change or better manage psychological concerns. Therapy sessions may involve guiding you through recognising a problem, releasing problematic thoughts about it, and considering and accepting more productive alternatives before returning to normal awareness. Hypnotherapy is typically used by a therapist along with traditional forms of talk therapy. Eventually, your therapist can help you learn hypnotherapy techniques yourself, so you can establish a stronger sense of control on your own in stressful or challenging moments.

Is hypnotherapy the same as hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy, which is sometimes called hypnotic suggestion, is a therapeutic technique in which a therapist uses hypnosis to help patients. It is not the kind of hypnosis portrayed in stage shows, or in movies or on television. You will not be unconscious or asleep during hypnotherapy, you will not lose control of yourself, your thoughts, or your free will, and you will be able to fully recall your experience. And while you will hear your therapist’s suggestions, it is always up to you to decide whether to act on them. Hypnosis by a trained mental-health professional is not a form of mind control, which is impossible to achieve anyway.

Can everyone be hypnotised?
The most common challenge of hypnotherapy is that as many as one in four people cannot be hypnotised. Brain imaging has confirmed differences in patterns of brain connectivity between those who respond to hypnotism and those who do not. Other people who could potentially be hypnotised may not respond to the technique because of their scepticism or resistance to entering a hypnotic state. If a therapist’s “post-hypnotic suggestion” is effective, it’s because they are suggesting something you want to achieve.

Does hypnotherapy work?
Through hypnotherapy, you can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. Like other talk therapy techniques, when hypnotherapy succeeds, it’s a case of mind over matter. Effective hypnotherapy involves self-healing because you access resources you need to change inside of yourself and learn how to tap into them whenever you need. Hypnotherapy has been shown to be an effective therapy for anxiety, phobias, stress, panic attacks, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual dysfunction, and undesirable behaviours like smoking. It can be used to help improve sleep or to address relationship challenges, and to aid with pain management, digestive disorders, skin conditions, and the gastrointestinal side effects of pregnancy or chemotherapy.
