My clients are often reflective, thoughtful people who feel stuck or disconnected from who they are. They may struggle with self-criticism or people-pleasing, or feel that life has lost direction. Some may be adjusting to a recent diagnosis like ADHD or Autism or AuDHD and experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression. Together, we explore what sits beneath these patterns, looking at identity, attachment, and meaning, to build understanding, self-compassion, and movement towards change. My approach draws on a range of strategies, offering warmth, honesty, and a space to reconnect with yourself and live more authentically.

Sometimes, being part of the LGBTQ+ community can be a very lonely existence, and we are not all ‘out and proud’ or lucky enough to feel part of a wider LGBTQ+ family. You may be experiencing isolation, shame, or perhaps you have faced rejection from your family or friends. I do not assume that your struggles are related to your sexuality or gender, but if you are trying to deal with something specific in your personal life, or are simply overwhelmed and feeling alone in your current situation, I can offer you a private and non-judgemental space for the exploration of anything which may be causing you pain.

You noticed you started to become excessively self-conscious in social settings. You feel everything you say has high stakes, so you’d rather not say anything at all than suffer the possible embarrassment. You can become controlling and snappy in stressful situations and are left wondering how the things you feared the most ended up happening. Your relationships are roller coasters that leave you befuddled, sad, and exhausted. You end up being isolated, absent from connection, and convinced to your core something is wrong. It’s just that you can’t put your finger on it. You wish you were able to take a step back and see clearly.

I work in an experiential, compassionate, and open-minded way; offering both support and thoughtful challenge as you face what matters most. My aim is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be honest, and supported enough to take risks when something important needs attention. I believe that it is through our experience of each other in therapy that something hidden and unique can be disclosed, and that is what I aim to find with you.

Maybe you’re exhausted from trying to be everything to everyone, or feel disconnected from who you really are. You may be carrying trauma or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. I offer a space where you can soften, feel met, and begin to listen to what’s really going on inside. This is a space for the parts of you that long to be heard.

Having witnessed first-hand how untreated mental health issues can impact entire family systems over multiple generations, I cannot emphasise strongly enough the importance and value of reflecting on the influence of our childhood experiences in shaping who we are as adults; our beliefs about ourselves, others and the world. Between us we can discover and make sense of which of your current struggles are rooted in the past and how your childhood experiences have impacted your life; not only as habitual actions or reactions to everyday situations and relationships but also on your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

Sometimes life is confusing, painful and problematic and we are troubled, distressed and not at peace with our lives or, ourselves. I fully believe that therapy is a setting in which we are able to speak freely and not feel judged; a place where we are met with empathy and understanding. I truly believe a setting such as this provides the basis from which healing can begin. It is absolutely my belief that the answers to our questions lie within us and we just need some assistance in navigating to those answers. Whatever it is you are seeking help with, I would love to work with you to find your answers, clarity and peace.

Well done for getting to here. Things can be better than they are today. ‘There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.’ (Maya Angelou) Wouldn’t it be valuable and nourishing to have a non-judgemental listener? Someone to listen to your worries, fears and anxieties and all that you have been keeping inside and hidden for so long. I'm a registered integrative counsellor and therapist (MBACP) offering short and long-term therapy for 18+ adults in-person, online and on the phone in Clapham Junction, SW11. My work is often guided by an attachment-based approach. I work Monday to Thursday 8am to 8pm.

Hoarding Counsellors
What is the most effective treatment for hoarding?
Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) has been well-studied in the treatment of hoarding. This type of therapy includes changing beliefs surrounding possessions, as well as learning how to discard items and reduce acquisitions. The hoarder may also gain much-needed organizational skills. Another useful therapy may be compassion-focused therapy, which can address emotion regulation and negative self-perception.

How long does therapy for hoarding take?
Although treatment can vary, most people demonstrate improvement after 23 sessions, with some showing improvement after just a few sessions. Researchers have developed a 26-session cognitive behavioral program. People who hoard may need “maintenance” sessions over the years if the problem arises repeatedly.

Are there medications for hoarding?
The more commonly-prescribed medications for hoarding are including antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This can include drugs such as venlafaxine and paroxetine. And because hoarding disorder is related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, medications for OCD, such as clomipramine, may be effective for hoarding as well.

Can hoarding come back after treatment?
Hoarding is a chronic disorder and it can last throughout an individual’s lifetime. Regularly checking in with a psychotherapist can help manage symptoms long-term. A good therapist will help the person learn needed skills including decision-making, organization, and stress reduction. The patient will gain a better perspective and the need to cling to useless items will lessen.
