In my work with couples I introduce elements of Emotionally Focused Therapy, a structured approach based on attachment theory, helping couples to understand and respond to each other's needs effectively.
My core approach to counselling is Psychodynamic which means I pay attention to unconscious feelings and how past experiences may be influencing your present day to day life. Our work will be collaborative and I will make sure that, during the therapeutic process, your needs are met and your pace respected.

Are you stressed, feeling low or struggling with decisions at the moment? I can help you to talk things through at your own pace, and we can work together on ways to change aspects of your life and the way that you feel about them. I can help you to discuss areas of uncertainty and frustration in a warm, supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere. Some people prefer to talk mainly about difficulties in the present. Others welcome the opportunity to look back to earlier times and understand where emotions like anger, sadness and self-doubt first came from. This can make these problems much easier to deal with in the present.

I work with executives, business partners and couples who want a place where we can make sense of what is going on and make meaningful changes in their work and relationships.
Many people come to me not with a specific problem to fix, but with a sense that something important is out of alignment - in their relationships, their work, or their sense of meaning and purpose. Other people come to me with a specific concern, including work challenges, anxiety, burnout, relationship difficulties, ADHD, imposter syndrome.

I work with a range of issues from anxiety and depression to trauma and relationship issues.
We know that life is sometimes very hard, and that we are supposed to be able to absorb and grow from the inevitable ups and downs that come our way. But, of course, there are times when we are just unable to absorb what life throws at us, or grow from it, because we can't quite determine what is wrong or see a way forward. Whether it is anxiety, depression, or something else that cannot be so neatly labelled, I will support you in exploring your own, unique experience. You will discover and understand what is causing you discomfort, pain or holding you back, so that you can live a more enjoyable, fulfilled and rewarding life.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
