People seek counselling and psychotherapy for various reasons. Not everyone knows what is bothering them. Often it is the difficulties and challenges of daily life that become overwhelming and unmanageable, impacting relationships, work and decision making. It is sometimes beyond the control of the individual to address those issues without professional help.

Urban living therapy and well being, is an umbrella term for the type of therapy that I offer. I am a clinical psychologist with over 15 years experience of working with people with complex psychological issues. Very often what brings clients into therapy with me is an accumulation of live stressors, both from past experiences and current everyday challenges. Anxiety, depression, poor emotional coping, self-harm, interpersonal or relationship issues are the areas they wish to address. My clients seek to resolve old issues and develop better ways of managing their emotions and relationships with others.

My friends would describe me as a warm, bubbly and compassionate person. I am someone who is always ready to give people time. I understand it can be nerve wrecking attending therapy and seeking help. Having grown up in a culture where mental health , was not discussed I am hoping to help change the stigmatism around mental health. Please be reassured that I am here to help with your struggle. My long term goal is to help people feel empowered in order for them to be the best version of themselves. I would like people to talk about mental health as if it does not define them.

Seeking support to help manage your mental health can be a daunting first step, it is however extremely beneficial. Whether you have been experiencing low mood and Depression, or anxiety such as worries around your health, or about something that may have happened in the past, I am here to help. In therapy we will work together to explore your difficulties, where they may have started and how they are kept going. Then, at a pace you are comfortable with, we would gradually introduce techniques to help you manage these problems in the long term.

Hello and thanks for reading! I offer a variety of therapeutic frameworks, tailored to the needs of individuals. One size does not fit all, and I take a 'person specific' and holistic approach, aimed at long term positive change. In our modern, western society many of us have become disconnected from our bodies, limiting therapeutic progress. Because of this, I integrate somatic/nervous system approaches alongside talking and experiential interventions, aimed at supporting clients to achieve sustainable solutions to their difficulties.

If you're feeling lost in life, unmotivated, confused, stuck, hurt or anything else that holds you back from living a happier, more contented, productive life then therapy may well be for you. If you're ready for change and committed to putting in the work to help me to help you, then let's work together. I enjoy my work immensely and feel it so important that every one of my clients feel heard, respected and valued. I have a relaxed yet professional approach, am open minded, caring and empathetic as well as spiritual. I have many years of experience behind me whilst still being young enough to relate to the younger client.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
