You may feel anxious, low, or disconnected, unsure why you react the way you do or why certain patterns keep repeating. Perhaps you sense there’s more to you than the roles you play, but it feels out of reach. My clients often come with a wish to understand themselves more deeply, to move beyond self-criticism and live with greater ease, purpose, and self-trust. Therapy becomes a space to explore what’s happening beneath the surface and to make sense of the parts of you that feel lost or in conflict.

I am a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist who recently retired from the NHS, after over 30 years of dedicated work in Children and families mental health.
Young children communicate their feelings through play, and the way they relate to adults. Understanding their communication and acknowledging their feelings is a way of making sense of how this might affect their wellbeing and specific difficulties. With adolescents and parents talking about their struggles will give an opportunity to feel understood.

I am a qualified Trauma Therapist and work with residential care homes and Local Authorities to offer therapy to Children in Care.
Are you a parent who is worried about their teenager? Are you struggling to communicate with one another whilst finding it hard to understand each other? Does your young person suffer with anxiety or persistent low moods? Maybe they are struggling academically and/or refusing to go to school? Or maybe you are a professional looking for someone to work with a young person in your care? Maybe they are struggling to form relationships or adjust to change. Young people deserve to be heard and listened to, and I hope to provide a space in which they can have exactly that.

I am a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist practicing in-person in Hackney and Shoreditch, East London.
Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. I tailor my approach to the needs of my clients. In addition to talk therapy, I often work with the creative arts, play, metaphor, and mindfulness as this can help us to access feelings that words alone fail to express. My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming and centres an awareness of intersectionality.

I am a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist with experience supporting children, teens and adults.
Do you find yourself constantly questioning your worth? Are you stuck in patterns of self-doubt, overthinking, or struggling to feel good enough in relationships? Does anxiety leave you feeling exhausted and overwhelmed? You’re not alone. I know how heavy it can feel when you're trying to keep everything together on the outside while struggling on the inside. Whether it’s the quiet self-criticism that never seems to stop, the fear of not being liked, or the way emotions can spiral into unhealthy coping mechanisms like emotional eating or avoidance, I understand how exhausting this cycle can be.

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?

Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How long are sessions with child therapists?

Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.

How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?

The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?

A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
