I see individuals and couples, either face-to-face or Online using Zoom. Finding the right therapist for you and asking for help can be a daunting task, especially if you are feeling anxious and uncertain.  I have many years of experience with a broad range of problems, including anxiety, depression, panic attacks, and relationship issues. I offer short-notice appointments, so you get seen, heard, and helped quickly.  You choose a location and time that works for you.  Online is the fastest and most flexible for short-notice appointments and is very common these days. I can offer help setting up Zoom on your phone, tablet or PC.

It is common for us to experience life as overwhelming at times and counselling can help you navigate these difficult times. The counselling I offer respects difference and I commit to reflecting this diversity through the inclusive approach I adopt. We are all in multiple relationships at any one time and counselling can help you navigate the difficulties they can bring. Together we can work towards achieving an understanding of why old, unhelpful familiar situations keep remerging for you, give you the tools to break these patterns and the opportunity for more harmony within your relationships.

Your life is open before you, and there are endless new possibilities for you to experience. Why hang on hopelessly to things that weigh you down and prevent the happiness and vitality you deserve. Counselling clients with trauma and my own past taught me time does not heal all wounds, it conceals them. What we don't address hurts us. 95% of our live run on automatic programmes installed in childhood, these disempowering programmes distort reality and detract from our quality of life. A new understanding of Self is the foundation from which you can change any area of your life.

Do you struggle with your emotions? Do you find yourself feeling moody and irritable? Maybe you are battling with high levels of anxiety that is ruining your life. Maybe you’re feeling sad and depressed robbing you of enjoyment in your life. Do you experience a range of intense emotions in a short space of time and slow to get back to “normal”? Do you end up having angry outbursts then feel full of regret afterwards? Do your relationships suffer as a result of intense emotions? Have you developed coping strategies that whilst in the moment might help but longer term are causing additional issues?

We all have periods where we struggle with ourselves, with our feelings and emotions, with our lives. We can experience the darkest of thoughts and feel very isolated, all too often believing we are alone in our suffering. That need not be the case, and with some support and nurturing, we can begin to feel stronger and look towards the future, rather than away from it. My name is Emma and I can offer you a warm yet professional and non-judgemental approach to counselling in a safe, calm space. I use an integrated , client-led approach derived not only from my years of training, but also from a wealth of life experience.

We are all able to agree that our physical health is variable, but it may be much harder to admit that our psychological health is in constant flux. All too often, we find ourselves buying into the idea of the "stiff upper lip": that "mental health issues" affect only other people - and "weak people", at that! It can be very daunting, therefore, to recognise that we need help and then to take steps to find a professional who will help things improve. I understand those concerns, because I've been there: and I also have experience of the positive effects of psychotherapy - from both sides of the consulting-room!

How can I find a therapist in Sudbury?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
