My name is Sarah and I am a qualified person centred counsellor. I have a favourite phrase; "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. Its about learning to dance in the rain". Life is better when you can share it, learn from it and accept it. Some people rarely have the opportunity to experience a warm, trusting, empathic relationship, one in which they are not judged and one where they are heard. I offer my clients a safe environment to explore any issues that they feel are holding them back. I am committed to supporting my clients in finding the right path for them without being rejected or judged for their decisions.

Children & Adolescent Counsellor. My passion is supporting children (5+), teens and young adults who may be struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, family changes, or difficulties at school. Young people often feel overwhelmed or misunderstood, and my aim is to provide them with a safe, creative, and understanding space where they can explore their feelings and develop healthier ways to cope. I also recognize the importance of the family system, and when helpful, I work with parents and careers to strengthen relationships and improve communication.

At times life can be challenging and can sometimes feel overwhelming. Finding yourself looking at counsellors it seems you have already made the decision that things need to change. I understand how difficult this first step can be and the courage needed to take the plunge to make that call and ask for help. I can offer you a warm and caring space where you will be supported whilst you start to look at the issues that are troubling you and together we can unravel the emotions and confusion that is holding you back from living a happy and fulfilled life.

Together the focus is on building a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship that will help you identify the difficulties you are facing and exploring these challenges will help to develop a better understanding of yourself. I am committed to provide clients the space to reflect on their experiences without judgement and have an open hearted approach to what each client brings. While counselling cannot alter the past we can evolve and become empowered to make the changes for a better future.

As a Forensic Psychologist, I have been extensively trained at Doctorate level, to work with people to find and process the root cause of their problems. The combination of extended training and years of experience means that I am a competent, focussed and compassionate therapist. I specialise in helping people to navigate their trauma experiences, this might be a single event that has taken life off track. But it might also mean healing from toxic relationships, complex family relationships and family environments or focussing on and tackling unhelpful behaviours.

I am passionate about working with trauma, & welcome survivors of sexual abuse, rape, and domestic abuse.
My approach is integrative & relational, working in-depth on a mid to long-term basis with clients. I believe that one’s identity is altered as a means of survival, & the seeking out of what is authentic & what is a mask is difficult work which requires a care and softness. I am here to care for you in this unmasking process: we will do it together!

Sessions offered inc loss, attachment, domestic abuse and emotional wellbeing.
MyReset Counselling was named after a client who said counselling was his “reset button”. I am here to offer support to clients who live in or have lived experience of being in the care system. Other clients may be living with the impact of trauma, separation and loss, attachment needs or bereavement. Others may be exploring their cultural identity. I enjoy seeing people move towards achieving the changes they identify for themselves.

Domestic Abuse Counsellors
What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?
Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognise that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?
Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?
Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?
It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
