I am aware that it can be a bit daunting to know who to speak with, so many counsellors to choose from. My aim is to make the process of reaching out for support as reassuring and stress free as possible. The relationship with ourselves is central to how we are, having the time and space to explore our deeper questions and concerns and working through them, can offer us a greater sense of peace within ourselves. A quote 'When a person has been hurt in a relationship, they can only be healed in a relationship' - therapy offers a therapeutic relationship to begin to heal our past hurts.

For most of us, life is a complex mix of highs and lows. Sometimes we need specialist help, separate to our family and friends, to support our mental health and wellbeing and help us find our way. You might have a child or young person in distress; perhaps you’re battling with parenting or behaviour issues; or maybe you are an adolescent or young adult struggling to navigate life. Psychotherapy can help you make sense of difficult thoughts, feelings and behaviours; allowing you to create better relationships, healthier behaviours, achieve potential and find joy in life.

Perhaps you have become highly skilled at appearing capable and coping well on the outside, while privately struggling with self-criticism, emotional overwhelm, or a persistent feeling that something is missing. Together, we can make sense of those experiences and find a path forward that works for you. I believe that every person has the potential for growth, self-understanding, and positive change. Sometimes, however, unlocking that potential requires the right support and encouragement. My role is to work with you, drawing on your own knowledge and experiences to help you reconnect with your strengths. .

So, if you are feeling anxious, depressed, or just lacking direction we can work together to find positive ways forward for you in your journey through life.
Therapy offers an important step in discovering the world around us and finding our place in it. For some people, coming to therapy is a big step. It can take courage to identify a need to heal, recover or progress. My approach aims to ensure that you feel safe in the knowledge that you can trust the therapeutic process. Maintaining the core values of empathy, unconditional positive regard for you as well as congruence (being authentic), I also use other modes of therapy.

I have experience working with issues surrounding trauma, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, family issues, autism and with survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
People start therapy for various reasons. Some want to explore their past, or work through current difficulties, others to accomplish career or relationship goals. Some feel dissatisfied and don’t know why. Whatever the motivation, I offer a non-judgemental empathic space to explore what may be troubling you. I am a trained art therapist and psychotherapist; and believe that using the arts can provide a much-needed outlet to express what words alone often cannot. This can be particularly useful when working through trauma and/or distress, where verbalising experiences and connecting complex feelings can be difficult.

In our work I will invite you to be curious, to allow deeper feelings to surface and to explore them with me as a reliable, resilient companion. I believe that togerther, allowing our creativity and imagination free rein, we can find a place of calm in the turbulence. A place where you can come to accept things you cannot change, have compassion for your most vulnerable self and hopeful growth towards your true whole self. I work in an integrative style, which means I can draw on different approaches within psychotherapy to build a working alliance personalised to you while also drawing on my own inner responses and felt sense.

Do you feel stressed and disconnected, moving between numbing and activation, feeling stuck and powerless? Are your relationships and sense-of-self suffering? I would love to help! My somatically-informed integrative approach seeks to create awareness around emotions and thoughts through gentle curiosity, whilst also taking moments of pause to notice how they have landed in the body. Working out where patterns and blockages can be felt and released through resources like breathwork, grounding, tracking, tapping, self-contact and powerful visualizations.

I work with grief, loss, anxiety, depression, purpose finding, work and relationship transitions.
At the heart of my practice is the belief that you are an expert in your own life. As a Psychosynthesis practitioner I hold that we are navigating a journey towards wholeness and coming home to yourself. This often comes through developing the sense of awareness of what is unfolding for you, moment to moment which is why the practices of Mindfulness can be very helpful. Through being present to what is stirring within you, a new sense of knowing is allowed to emerge, guiding you onwards.

In troubling times it can sometimes feel like you are alone & seeking help might feel really difficult. Just having a space to make sense of the thoughts that jumble around our heads is invaluable. Perhaps you need to understand yourself, your relationships or events from your past. Sometimes all we need is someone to just listen and hear our story. Counselling promotes insight, fosters self-awareness & creates a stronger, more resilient sense of self. This powerful combination can be the kick-start for the changes in your life you wish to make - sometimes even the smallest changes can make a huge difference in your well-being.
