Hi, I'm Julie, and I am passionate about working with people who have experienced abuse or trauma, whether it be sexual, physical or emotional. When we experience trauma we lose part of who we truly are because of the after effects, such as anxiety, depression, panic attacks, nervous system disregulation, flashbacks and dissociation (when we feel distanced from our emotions or ‘spaced out’, as if we’re living on autopilot). I love helping people rediscover who they really are by creating an environment in which they feel safe and completely accepted. I don't analyse you but with careful listening will know what we need to work on.

My approach draws upon humanistic, psychodynamic, embodied, transpersonal, dialogical gestalt and intersubjective approaches with you, the client, always at the centre.
Collapse-Aware, Decolonizing Psychotherapy. Working outdoors and/or in a cosy cabin in the town centre. Bearing witness to the collapse of multiple systems, more of us grow increasingly estranged from the values of capitalism. Watching the legacy of colonialism play out before us on the world stage while living with it inscribed on our bodies can push us to the edge of despair. Psychotherapy in this time and place calls for Radical Hope. Audre Lourde said "The masters tools will never dismantle the masters house.". Decolonizing psychotherapy acknowledges the past, centres us in the present and actively constructs the future.

Do you often ask yourself: ‘What is happening to me? I just don’t recognise myself anymore’. Old ways of living and coping with life’s stressors have simply stopped working and you find yourself at a crossroads. You may have lived through a traumatic experience or other significant life event that has left you feeling vulnerable and scarred. There may be new health, relationship or work challenges now that you simply don’t know how to resolve or something inside you has ‘snapped’ and says: ‘I’ve had enough’

I offer integrative child and young people's counselling and therapeutic child and teenage support. All our children and young people sometimes go through phases where not everything is going to plan. There might have been a bereavement, exam stress, bullying or sudden life changes have had an impact on their self esteem. Your might be concerned because your child has recently become angry, anxious, withdrawn, a bit more challenging or has developed difficulties in school. Sometimes they also struggle to find good friends, put themselves at risk or their physical health becomes affected.

I work with Neuro diverse needs, transpersonal and spiritual experience, geek culture symbolism and men's mental health issues amongst others.
The ideal condition to start therapy is simply the awareness that something is wrong or out of balance in ourselves, that things aren't working out how we feel they should or we are blocked in some way from living the life we want or need. We get as much from counselling as we are prepared to put in, and we need the resolve to start on a journey of self discovery and healing that will lead through some difficult places in ourselves. But like the heroes of countless stories we learn how to walk this path by travelling on it, and what we can gain in self realisation and self acceptance is worth the difficulties we may encounter.

I am a UKCP accredited psychotherapist practicing a mindfulness-based therapy. I offer a warm, grounded space where you can slow down and be met deeply. Together, we can explore the patterns, relationships, anxieties and emotions that feel stuck or overwhelming, so change emerges naturally with clarity, compassion and lasting depth. I recognise that it is not the model of therapy that brings about positive change, it is the quality of the relationship. I will not hide behind a professional mask and will allow you to set the agenda. My open and sensitive approach provides the safety for your difficulties to be fully addressed.

I work with individuals who feel disconnected from their authentic selves - perhaps you're feeling stuck, lacking direction, or missing purpose in your life. You might be struggling with past experiences that still affect you today, finding it hard to stay motivated, or feeling uncertain about your future path. Many of my clients initially believe they are the problem, carrying the weight of their struggles internally. If you recognise yourself in these words, know that you're not alone, and that what you're experiencing deserves to be heard and understood.

I integrate a diverse range of therapeutic approaches, including person-centred, psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, self-psychology, systemic, existential, transpersonal, and eco-psychological modalities, into a client-led, relational process.
Feeling disconnected or isolated? Many people struggle with loneliness, disconnection, and a lack of meaning in their lives. These experiences can be deeply rooted in a separation from the body, nature, and community—and may lead to depression, anxiety, or dissociation. As a therapist, I offer a space to explore these challenges with compassion and curiosity. Together, we’ll consider both personal and systemic influences on your wellbeing, including the impact of power and oppression. My approach integrates practical tools with psychological insight to support your healing and reconnection.

You might be here because something isn’t sitting right – in your life, relationships, or how you feel about yourself. Perhaps you’re carrying more than feels manageable, or you’re at a crossroads and unsure what comes next. At different points, we can all find ourselves feeling lost, overwhelmed or disconnected from who we are. When life feels challenging, confusing or out of balance, it can help to have a place where you don’t have to hold it all together on your own. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or not quite yourself, I offer a warm, supportive space where you can explore what’s happening and find a way forward.

Transpersonal Counsellors
How does transpersonal therapy work?
Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualisation, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?
Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?
Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilise the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?
There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioural therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
