As far as anyone can see, you’re holding it all together, but deep down, you’re struggling to manage the emotional aftermath of losing someone or something important in your life—a relationship, a job, or a loved one. You feel worried about the future and a deep sadness that life seems to carry on as if nothing has changed. The loneliness, exhaustion, and pain of dealing with these feelings alone are overwhelming. You wish to open up about how you’re truly feeling without fear of burdening others or causing concern for those close to you. You need a safe space to process, heal, and find the strength to adjust to your new reality.

Do you feel overwhelmed by your feelings? Do they impact on your confidence and day-to-day life? Or perhaps you have experienced painful losses, abuse or traumatic events that are affecting you? Do you have patterns of behaviour that no longer feel beneficial to you? Sometimes we think and act in certain ways that function to protect and preserve us. These have felt necessary in the past, but are no longer useful and can instead impact negatively on our life.

You are here because something in your life does not feel how you want it to or maybe how it used to. There is hope in you that you can feel differently or work out what it is you are looking for, or maybe find yourself again. Maybe you just need somewhere to talk confidentially and to feel understood.

I am an integrative psychotherapist working with couples, children, adolescents and parents.
It is not necessarily our circumstances that provide us with challenges but how we approach them. Our past can be useful in understanding our present but it does not determine our future. I work both on developing your resilience and the capacity to cope with your challenges as well as providing you with the skills needed to turn them into opportunities.

I also support parents with perinatal concerns (including pre- and postnatal anxiety, low mood and birth trauma) and early years concerns such as sleep, tantrums and parent-child relationships.
The foundation of effective therapy is a strong therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a compassionate and non-judgemental environment where children and families feel safe, heard and understood. I work integratively, tailoring support to each family by drawing on evidence-based therapy using CFT, ACT, CBT, Narrative and Systemic approaches.

I work with teenagers, young adults and parents who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious or stuck, repeating familiar patterns, struggling in relationships or trying to make sense of difficult life experiences.
I am an integrative psychotherapist with a background in counselling and mental health support. My work is informed by both professional training and lived experience. While many things can be understood through study, some of life’s most important lessons are understood only through experience. Together we can make sense of yours.

Maybe becoming a parent has brought up unexpected questions about your own upbringing, or you're navigating difficult family dynamics, or you've reached a point where simply "getting on with it" isn't working anymore.
I have particular experience supporting clients through periods of big life transitions, including changes in relationships, parenthood, identity, work and family life. Alongside my professional training, I'm also a mother of three and understand first-hand some of the pressures, responsibilities and identity shifts that can accompany modern life.

Parenting Counsellors
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
